Is the Bible Politically Correct?

You have probably noticed that the teachings of the Bible have become politically incorrect. This is a relatively new thing. When I was growing up, Judeo-Christian beliefs were generally accepted. We knew that a man was a man and a woman was a woman. A man couldn’t get pregnant, and you couldn’t just decide to be something else and change your pronouns. We knew that homosexuality was a sin. The Bible was accepted as THE source of Truth.

But in today’s world, it has become unacceptable, if not dangerous, to speak the Truth on these matters. In fact, the freedom of speech, which was once held dear, has been replaced with a new rule: If you don’t agree with me, you’re a hater and you spread lies, so you must and will be canceled. The Bible says,

“Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20 NIV

Many Christians have begun to bend with the wind. The pressure of our culture has convinced them to serve the god of this world. But the Bible says,

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV

It will only become increasingly more difficult to stand with the Truth of God’s Word. If you can’t stand now, how will you stand later when it gets really tough?

God warned Jeremiah,

“If you stumble in safe country,
how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” Jeremiah 12:5 NIV

We must make a choice. Will we trust in God or will we allow ourselves to bend in the wind?

“… Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve … As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NIV Read full chapter

Just Don’t Say “Jesus”

You can say “God”. You can say “the Lord”. You can say “God bless you.” Just don’t say “Jesus”. Did you ever notice what happens when someone mentions Jesus? A tension fills the room. It’s true. I wonder why that is.

I guess we don’t want to offend anyone. I suppose we don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. Maybe we want to be politically correct. Whatever the reason, I think we need to think again.

The problems of the world seem hopeless. Watching the news is depressing. Crazy people  kill the innocent. Gangs rule neighborhoods. Children are abused and neglected, starving for food and love.

Jesus is the answer to the problems of the world. He is Love.  He is the Healer of the brokenhearted and gives hope to the hopeless. He is rest for the weary,  and peace for the anxious.

Imagine what the world would be like if everyone were a Christ-follower – If the whole world loved the Lord with all their heart and their neighbor as themselves?

Imagine a world that loves Jesus.

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Luke 10:27
