“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6 NIV

NOTE: “The Hebrew word for mercy (hesed) describes loyalty or devotion. The focus was on the inwardness or their lives, not the outwardness of what they brought to Him. He wanted to see passion in their hearts for Him and compassion in their lives for one another.” Jeremiah Study Bible

Monday’s Verse, 5/17/21

““What is more pleasing to the Lord:
    your burnt offerings and sacrifices
or your obedience to his voice?
Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice,
and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft,
and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.” 1 Samuel 15:22-23 NLT

Friday's Verse, 4/17/20

“I have no complaint about your sacrifices
or the burnt offerings you constantly offer
But I do not need the bulls from your barns
or the goats from your pens.
10 For all the animals of the forest are mine,
and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know every bird on the mountains,
and all the animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for all the world is mine and everything in it.
14 Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God,
and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
15 Then call on me when you are in trouble,
    and I will rescue you,
and you will give me glory.”
Psalm 50:8-15 NLT
