Quote of the Week, 11/27/24

“If you feel besieged by life today, lean on the God of peace – the God of hope and the future. The same God who has a plan for Israel has a plan for you. Trust that He will direct your path.” David Jeremiah

Monday’s Verse, 11/25/24

“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,” 2 Timothy 2:24-25 NIV Read full chapter

God Is Our Loving Father

Do you ever need a shoulder to cry on? Someone to whom you can honestly express everything you’re feeling? Most of us keep these deepest thoughts inside where they only torment our soul. But there is One with whom you can express your deepest feelings openly and without fear. Talk to the Lord. He loves you and knows what’s in your heart and mind anyway.

A person can be hurt in such a traumatic way that it causes life-long depression or even PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Their soul needs to be restored. Even when all else has failed, there is still hope. Your loving Father’s arms are open wide.

Have you read the book of Lamentations? It is a model for how we should express our laments to God. It was most likely written by the prophet Jeremiah. This was his lament at the time of Israel’s exile and the destruction of Jerusalem. The author pours out his heart to God. He says,

“This is why I weep
    and my eyes overflow with tears.
No one is near to comfort me,
    no one to restore my spirit.” Lamentations 1:16 NIV

The Good Shepherd is the only one who can restore your soul.

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;” Psalm 23:1-3 KJV

We can talk to God about our deepest feelings of anger and despair. We can bring these feelings to God because He loves us and wants us to turn to Him for comfort. He wants us to come to Him because we know He is our loving Father.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV

Adding lament to your prayer life will cause your relationship with God to grow deeper and more intimate. It will restore your soul.

“The thought of my suffering and homelessness
    is bitter beyond words.
I will never forget this awful time,
    as I grieve over my loss.
Yet I still dare to hope
    when I remember this:

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
    his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentations 3:19-23 NLT

America Rejects the Woke Agenda

As I contemplate what to say to my readers today, I cannot help but reflect on America’s election results. I must admit that, although I prayed that America would reject the woke agenda, I was fearful that she would choose it. And then what? Would God give us over to our delusions and sinful ways?

“and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2:10 NIV

But, America rejected abortion through all months of pregnancy. She rejected the lie of transgenderism which supports the mutilation of our children. She rejected the abandonment of Israel. She rejected many kinds of evil. For this, I am eternally grateful because I love America and could not imagine how I would endure her complete rejection of life and truth.

So I am thankful today and filled with joy. Please believe me when I say, my hope is not in any man. My hope is in God. However, God allows us to make choices. And choices have consequences, as you know.

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.” Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NIV

I believe God answered the prayers of many Christians. He has given us more time to enjoy freedom and use it to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has given us more time to speak the Truth in God’s Word.

Many Christians around the world are severely persecuted. For the time being at least, America will not become part of that group. So we must recognize that we have been given a reprieve and take advantage of the fact that we can continue to freely gather in our churches and preach the Gospel with all boldness and unafraid. For the time being, there will be no “misinformation police” to stop the preaching of the Gospel. Be thankful.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 NIV

Dear Lord, We thank you for your mercy and love. We thank you for all our many blessings. Help us to be doers of the Word. Help us to do everything You want us to do. Give us boldness and wisdom as we interact with the lost. Teach us to walk in love. Give us a deep love for Your Word and a hunger to know it well. Give us discernment, that we might walk in Truth. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

In His Love, Cindy
