Embracing Gratitude

1-minute devotion for Thursday, November 27, 2025

“Rejoice always,  pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

My thoughts: Mourning for what we have lost will not bring joy, but being thankful every day for all that we do have will bring us joy!

Have a happy and joyful Thanksgiving!

Reflecting Your Heart’s True Self

1-minute devotion for Tuesday, 11/25/25

“As water reflects the face,
    so one’s life reflects the heart.” Proverbs 27:19

I have been reading through Proverbs, and I realize the importance of this treasure of wisdom. This book should be read and studied by all young people before they go away to college, maybe even before they start high school.

Come Jesus Come

1-minute devotion for Monday, 11/24/25

"He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”

"Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." Revelation 22:20

If you are living in pain, physical or in your heart, pray these words with CeCe. Someday, you won’t feel this way, maybe sooner than you think.

Finding Favor Through Truth and Kindness

1-minute devotion for Sunday, 11/23/25

“Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let these qualities define you];
Bind them [securely] around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
So find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 AMP (emphasis mine)

Jesus prayed for His disciples, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17

A Personal Message to My Readers

Today, I am feeling an especially deep appreciation for the friends I have made through blogging. That is the reason for this post.

A lot has changed since I began my blogging journey eight years ago. In the early years, I was able to read the blogs of all my readers and send them encouragement. The Lord laid this on my heart: If you encourage just one, that is something wonderful!

Today, the Lord has increased the number of readers and I can no longer contact everyone individually. I wish I could write to every one of you and read all your posts, but even though this ministry is full time, the best I can do is to read a few blogs each day and answer comments. The rest of my time is spent in Bible study, research, and writing.

I want to thank you for sharing my posts with other media. I also want to thank you for your comments. I read all comments and prayerfully reply to each one.

I love my “blog family”. It is here that I have connected with many Jesus followers around the world, some of whom I have come to know like a personal friend. I’ve been greatly encouraged through you often. Many times, through one of your posts, God has absolutely spoken something to my heart that I needed that day!

This is a very special community of believers and I am most thankful for all of you.

Most of all, I am thankful for God’s guidance and His grace. If I should write something that encouraged you, it is God who is responsible. So I give all glory to Him.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Thank you for your support and prayers. May the Lord bless you every day as you serve Him, the one true God, the Good Shepherd and the King of Kings!

Love In Action

1-minute devotion for Friday, 11/21/25

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40

Do You Need God’s Favor?

1-minute devotion for Thursday, 11/20/25

“Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
    you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12 NIV

Psalm 5 is a psalm of David, used in worship. David expresses trust in the Lord’s protection. May we do likewise.

Are You Fearful or Will You Trust God?

Quote of the Week for Wednesday, 11/19/25

“Basically, there are two paths you can walk: faith or fear. It’s impossible to simultaneously trust God and not trust God.”

Evaluating Church Teachings: Are They True to Scripture?

1-minute devotion for Tuesday, 11/18/25

Speaking to the Pharisees, Jesus said, “You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: ‘This people honors me with their lips,
    but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
    teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” Matthew 15:7-9 ESV Read full chapter

These verses give us a lot to think about. Christians must determine whether what is being taught aligns with God’s Word, or is it the commandments (ideas) of men?

Jesus says these teachers are hypocrites and “their heart is far from me.” That should motivate Christians to be discerning, like the Bereans.

 hypokritēs, n. hypocrite (an extension of an actor in a play), implying arrogance and hardness of heart, utterly devoid of sincerity and genuineness:– hypocrites
