Quote of the Week, 10/2/24

Music is not the origin of worship, but it can be the expression of it. Do not look to music to induce your worship; look to music as simply an expression of that which is induced by a heart that is rapt by the mercies of God, obedient to His commands.” GotQuestions.Org

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 NIV (emphasis mine)

In His Love, Cindy

  1. You are so right, especially as related to congregational worship. We do not necessarily need musical accompaniment, and the church musicians should not be preforming a stage show. But one neat thing about music is that the first mention of it is in Heaven, when as the book of Job 38:7 tells us, “The morning stars sang together”. Singing (and I hope guitar playing!} is also one of the few things we do on earth, that we will still do in eternity.

  2. Psalm 100:1-2 (NIV): “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”

Colossians 3:16 (NIV): “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly… singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
