Music is not the origin of worship, but it can be the expression of it. Do not look to music to induce your worship; look to music as simply an expression of that which is induced by a heart that is rapt by the mercies of God, obedient to His commands.” GotQuestions.Org
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 NIV (emphasis mine)

You are so right, especially as related to congregational worship. We do not necessarily need musical accompaniment, and the church musicians should not be preforming a stage show. But one neat thing about music is that the first mention of it is in Heaven, when as the book of Job 38:7 tells us, “The morning stars sang together”. Singing (and I hope guitar playing!} is also one of the few things we do on earth, that we will still do in eternity.

Just getting to learn some tricks from Chtis Rice, Phil Keaggy and Bebo Norman would be awesome. I also would bet that King David will praise Jesus with some awesome skills on that harp!
