Sunday’s Memory Verse, 9/15/24

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 (NASB)

“The true measure of doing God’s will is not in achieving dominion over society but in faithfully following Christ and living out His teachings. This includes humility, love, service, and proclaiming the gospel.” Bruce Cooper

  1. It is odd that a friend of mine offered a debate on this subject years ago that made me do a lot of thinking on the subject. He premise was the debate between God’s permissible will (circumventing) and His perfect will. This also encompasses autonomy (free will) vs God’s will. Does God’s ultimate, perfect will get circumvented, delayed, etc.

As King David once said some things are just too lofty for me to think on, yet if God wants a child to even understand His will, I often wonder do we make this more complicated then it needs to be. In the simplicity of a child, I wonder at this subject. At what point do we walk away from God’s will not realizing it is our own sin nature getting in the way. Hum, thinking.

Thanks again for a full meal of thoughts to consider this Lord’s Day. Hum, still thinking. 🙂

    1. Eileen, I think we definitely make this more complicated than it needs to be. To embrace God’s will is a matter of the heart. Do we desire to be in God’s will with our whole heart? Do we obey what the Bible teaches us to do? (Love others, walk in humility, study our Bible, pray, etc.)
As I look back over my life, I can see how God has taken care of me (even when I didn’t deserve it).
We ask Him, “Should I take this job? Buy this house? etc. etc.” Never once has an angel showed up with a direct answer to my question! But what’s important is to be surrendered in our heart to His will, pray for wisdom, and do what seems best, trusting God to guide our steps.
Thank you for your comments. I may have to write a post on this! 🙂 God bless you richly today and always, my friend!
