Your Unborn Child Is Not Just a Clump of Cells

The photo above was taken the day after my daughter’s birth. She was born 5 weeks premature and weighed 5 lbs 12 oz when I took her home 7 days later.

If she had not arrived early, this is what she would have looked like while in the womb. The same baby you see in the photo above would exist, just in a different location. She would not have been “just a clump of cells”. But that is what pro-abortion advocates want you to believe.

Pro-abortion activists want you to believe that the child in the womb is not a human being. They say it is a zygote, a fetus, or even just a clump of cells, but certainly not a human being with the right to live. Of course, this is the entire point. That living, growing body in the womb IS a human being, an innocent child, dependent on her mother to grow and thrive until she’s ready to enter the world. Even then, she is dependent on her parents to nurture and care for her until she is an adult (or maybe forever).

Mothers who want their babies KNOW that the life growing inside of them is their baby. They don’t wonder if it’s a baby or a clump of cells. It’s only when having a child is inconvenient that the mother’s attitude and beliefs dramatically change.

The photo below was taken 35 years later in Africa where she volunteered in a children’s hospital for 6 months, her days ordained and written in God’s book before they came to be.

“For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well…

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
” Psalm 139:13-14 and 16 NIV

  1. First of all, I love the pictures of you and your daughter when she was born and again of her on her mission trip. You are spot on that the difference in recognizing a baby in the womb and just a clump of cells is all about the desires of the mother and of society. I recently wrote a piece on FB about a documentary Aaron and I watched. Scientists were ecstatic because of discovering ice on Enceladus, one of Saturn’s moons. They said ice might mean water and water might mean life…microbial life. Yet they do not recognize cells in the womb at conception as being life. “Ever learning, and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth” because of the blindness of Satan. I love your ability to point us to God’s truth, Cindy. Thank you.

  2. Cindy, it seems everything evil today is a denial of the truth, even denying science, which evil people profess to be following. Women scream, “My body, my choice!” Well fine, but there’s a distinct, unique person living inside a pregnant woman – that’s someone else’s body! “Follow the science.” Every cell in that tiny body has DNA that is unique and totally different from the DNA that’s in every cell of the mother’s body.
    I have explained this to a loved one who said she believes in “reproductive rights,” and as her eyes glazed over, her only argument was, “I don’t agree.” 🤦

    1. It seems like pro-abortion activists really know that abortion kills a child, but they prioritize a woman’s right to end a pregnancy. In other words, the fact that she’s killing a child doesn’t matter. They don’t see this issue as being black and white. But it is. I have also noticed that pro-abortion activists aren’t seeking truth. They are seeking to justify their actions. Thanks for commenting Annie.

  3. Thank you, Cindy, for your profound post. You reminded me that my son came nearly three weeks early! Oh, such a sweet memory. I had wanted and prayed and stormed heaven for some 6 years to have a child. He was and remains the answer to my prayers. Thank you for the reminder that his days were ordained way before he was born–a fact that God has spoken to me on occasion. I also believe it is a black and white issue. Choose you this day, life or death. Thanks be to God that people are speaking out loudly on this issue and educating others.

  4. Your daughter’s birth and life experience is a beautiful account of God’s plan. The pictures you shared are a huge exclamation point! What’s heartbreaking is that some people are referring to unborn babies as “prebirths” to remove the fact that the life inside the womb isn’t a life until birth. It’s heartbreaking. Thanks, Cindy, for sharing your story.
