Friday’s Verse, 7/21/23

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4 NIV

My Thoughts: I’m reminded of the day, many years ago, when the Holy Spirit brought this verse to my mind in a specific situation. It isn’t easy to do, but it’s God’s way and how we should live.

Verses for Meditation, 7/20/23

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4 NIV (emphasis mine)

My thoughts: A myth is simply a false belief or idea (Oxford Dictionary). May we love Truth more than what our flesh desires. We’ve been warned.

Tuesday’s Verse, 7/18/23

“Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh [and died for us], arm yourselves [like warriors] with the same purpose [being willing to suffer for doing what is right and pleasing God], because whoever has suffered in the flesh [being like-minded with Christ] is done with [intentional] sin [having stopped pleasing the world]” 1 Peter 4:1 AMP

My Thoughts: We arm ourselves by having the mind of Christ.

Friday’s Verse, 7/14/23

Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” John 17:17 NASB

My Thoughts: Perhaps the most life-changing words in all the Bible…

Verse for Meditation, 7/13/23

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

My thoughts: Now is the time to spread the Good News, while Jesus tarries.

Quote of the Week, 7/12/23

Unity at the expense of truth is a false sense of unity.”

Justin Peters

We have been given the final word on what is true: God’s Word, the Bible.

Tuesday’s Verse, 7/11/23

“Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20 NIV

My Thoughts: What the Bible calls sin is called good by the world. It’s always been this way, but now more than ever, except maybe during the days of Noah. Hmmmm
