Does God Remember My Sins?

2-Minute Devotion for Sunday, 5/17/26

I spoke to a Christian friend who expressed concern about the punishment she might receive for her past sins.

But does God punish those whom Christ has redeemed? Let’s examine the Scriptures that answer that question.

“Let the wicked forsake their ways
    and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” Isaiah 55:7 NIV

Jesus said, “Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37b NIV

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 NIV

Do these Scriptures apply even though I have committed terrible sins? What if I had an abortion? What if I killed someone? What if I committed adultery? What if I engaged in homosexual acts? Will God forgive these sins?

“Come now, let’s settle this,”
    says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 NLT

“So repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased]” Acts 3:19 AMP (emphasis mine)

“… as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 NIV

“And their sins and their lawless acts I will remember no more [no longer holding their sins against them].” Hebrews 10:17 AMP

Let God’s Word answer your questions. He wants you to know how great is His mercy and love!

Spread the Good News

1-minute devotion for Friday, 12/19/25

“Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again?”

“But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” 2 Peter 3:3-4a and 3:8-9 NLT Read full chapter

My thoughts: Now is the time to spread the Good News, while Jesus tarries.

Embracing God’s Patience

1-minute devotional for Tuesday, 7/29/25

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV

“The apparent delay in Christ’s return is a gift of mercy, a sign that God is extremely patient. In His great love, He waits, granting people the opportunity to come to repentance and be saved, not wanting anyone to perish.” Jeremiah Study Bible Notes

Forgiveness Through Christ: A Promise for All

1-minute devotional for Thursday, 7/24/25

“Blessed are those
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.” Romans 4:7-8

This is the promise of all promises for everyone who is ashamed of their sins and has repented, trusting and following Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Maybe you have walked the straight and narrow path your whole life. Or, maybe, like me, you haven’t. But know this: If you belong to Jesus, you’ve been forgiven.

In His Love, Cindy

All Scripture is from the NIV unless stated otherwise.

Why Each Soul Matters

1-minute read Verse for Meditation, 2/20/25

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’  I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:4-7 NIV

The lost sheep symbolizes just one sinner who repents. That is how valuable each person is to God! (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)

Monday’s Verse, 6/3/24

“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation …  But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3: 3-4 and 8-9 Read full chapter

Verses for Meditation, 7/6/23

“Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2: 25-26 NIV (emphasis mine)

My thoughts: A kind, gentle spirit has the potential to awaken people and bring them to their senses. This is God’s way.

Thursday's Verse, 4/16/20

Jesus said, “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing … likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:4-5, 7 NKJV
