But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.”
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” Isaiah 49:14-16 (emphasis mine) Read full chapter
“Zion, the city of Jerusalem, is personified as a desperate woman who believes that God has forsaken her. Yet God’s love is so infinite that an adoring mother will forget to have compassion on her child before He will forget His children.” Jeremiah Study Bible Notes

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it produce and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:9-11 NASB Read full chapter

Hopelessness is the cruelest emotion. I felt hopeless once. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Hopelessness is like being in a dark hole. You don’t know how to get out and you don’t care. I held on by repeatedly telling myself that I wouldn’t always feel like this. Eventually, God rescued me from the pit of despair.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
“How priceless is your unfailing love, O God.” Psalm 36:7
“When you go through deep waters I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2
If you have ever experienced hopelessness, and you’re still around to tell about it, you will understand the inextricable need of all human beings to have HOPE.
Suicide, the intentional termination of one’s own life, is a significant public health concern worldwide. The contributing factors can be complex; however, it often stems from a deep feeling of hopelessness and the inability to believe that there are any solutions to the problems the individual faces.
As Christians, we can bring hope to people trapped in discouragement. What greater motivation could there be for devoting time each day to God alone? My prayer is that because I seek Him, others will see Him and take hold of that hope that anchors my soul.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19-20
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”Romans 8:24-25
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13
Hope is a powerful thing. God’s Word has much to say about it. As a Christian, you can bring hope to those who need it because you know the God of hope.

“What Paul is urging is that we find the truth of scripture and stand in that truth together.” Carolyn Dawson Unity Matters
My thoughts: We don’t have unity in the body of Christ because we are accepting and tolerate false teaching. We will have unity only when “we find the truth of scripture and stand in that truth together.” Amen!

Jesus said, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16:13-15 (emphasis mine) Read full chapter
My thoughts: God has given us His Word so that we might know truth. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will guide us into all the truth. Obviously, not everyone has been guided into all truth. Why is that? It’s because we have to love the truth above anyone’s opinion, including our own. We have to be seeking truth and only truth no matter where it leads us. That is different from looking for verses to support our own opinions or the opinions we want to be true.

“Scripture calls us to both judge rightly (John 7:24) and to restore gently (Galatians 6:1). If someone were walking toward danger, love would warn them...True Christian love does not affirm error—it seeks truth.”
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. David’s prayer demonstrates his trust in God, his desire to do God’s will, and his humility before God. May we learn from David’s example.

Our Heavenly Father stands beside us in our struggles and comforts us. The greater our struggle, the more comfort we receive from Him; and the greater our ability will be to minister to others who are struggling and need comfort.

The devil will entice God’s people to sin any way he can. One of his favorite ways is to make the sin seem innocent. (It’s just for fun!) But divination is not innocent fun, and sin has consequences.
Did you know that if you consult a psychic for guidance, you are asking a demon for help? If you ask a Ouija Board questions, you are asking a demon for help. In fact, fortune-telling is just another word for divination. And divination is an abomination to God. It is sin.
Christians should look to God for guidance, not demons. Paul clearly associates fortune-telling with demons in the Scripture below.
“Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling.She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.” Acts 16:16-18 (emphasis mine)
When I was a teenager, I participated in a seance with friends. They said there would be someone there who really knew how to do it. I thought it sounded like fun, but that night I was overcome by intense fear that I had never experienced before or since. Eventually, I realized I had done something I shouldn’t be doing.
I repented of this sin and I would never, ever do it again. I learned my lesson well.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Unfortunately, teens may participate in occult activities, not knowing how dangerous they are. Just because someone claims it was just for fun, does not protect them from the consequences. Every Christian should know that divination is an abomination to God. But do they?
1 Chronicles 10 is the story of King Saul’s last day on Earth. He is wounded by the enemy and then kills himself to keep from being captured. The next day, the Philistines stripped him and cut off his head. Verses 13 and 14 say,
“Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.”
There are many Scriptures that make it clear that all types of divination are a sin and an abomination to God. Here are a few.
Ouija Board
“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.” Deuteronomy 18:9-11
Witchcraft
“I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.” Leviticus 20:6
“Do not turn to mediums [who pretend to consult the dead] or to spiritists [who have spirits of divination]; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.”Leviticus 19:31 AMP
Tarot Cards
God calls these things detestable. Yet teens are captivated by them. Pew Research Center found that two-thirds of teens report using TikTok. Majorities of teens use YouTube and TikTok every day, and some report using these sites almost constantly. This is the day in which we live.
Some methods of divination include psychics, tarot cards, Ouija boards, reading tea leaves, astrology, horoscopes, zodiac signs, pendulum boards, fortune tellers, drug use, the enneagram, and others.
Horoscope
Remember, sorcery of any kind is not innocent fun. God’s Word is our guide.
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:5-6 NLT
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8 NLT
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 NLT
I am posting this as a warning during this Halloween season. To even dabble in occult practices is dangerous. Make sure your children are not ignorant about this.
