Verse for Meditation, 6/20/24

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 KJV

An old minister once said, “It’s not what you say, but what you do and who you are that makes the impact.”

Yes, we are to be holy and turn away from sinful desires. That’s true. But is that what he’s talking about? I think he’s talking about loving your neighbor.

Quote of the Week, 6/19/24

As Christians, we are called to uphold the principles of justice, compassion, and truth. We must navigate these complex issues with discernment, rejecting the allure of divisive rhetoric and standing firm against antisemitism in all its forms. In the face of this challenge, may the Church be guided by the power of the Holy Spirit to champion the cause of truth and support the Jewish people amidst the satanic onslaught of antisemitism.

Tuesday’s Verse, 6/18/24

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.  And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:15-16 NIV

Friday’s Verse, 6/14/24

“Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.” Hebrews 9:14 NLT

My thoughts: We don’t have to live with shame and guilt because Christ has purified our consciences. He has made us NEW! PRAISE HIS NAME!

Monday’s Verse, 6/10/24

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 NIV Read full chapter

Sunday’s Memory Verse, 6/9/24

“Those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Friday’s Verse, 6/7/24

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.” James 5:7-8 NIV

Monday’s Verse, 6/3/24

“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation …  But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3: 3-4 and 8-9 Read full chapter

Sunday’s Memory Verse, 6/2/24

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

Being timid or having fear usually enters in when a person focuses on his or her situation and abilities rather than on God’s sovereignty and attributes. (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)
