Seeking God’s Guidance

1-minute devotion for Monday, 10/6/25

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
    for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.
 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
    for I hide myself in you.
 Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
    lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:8-10

David’s prayer demonstrates his trust in God, his desire to do God’s will, and his humility before God. May we learn from David’s example.

Finding Comfort in our Struggles

1-minute devotion for Sunday, 10/5/25

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Our Heavenly Father stands beside us in our struggles and comforts us. The greater our struggle, the more comfort we receive from Him; and the greater our ability will be to minister to others who are struggling and need comfort.

Encouragement for Christians Suffering Persecution

1-minute devotion for Friday, 10/3/25: Focus on Sudan

“And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.” Hebrews 12:2-3 NLT Read full chapter

Commentary: “You are not alone! Jesus is with you, cheering you on to victory. He is at your side to strengthen and encourage you. When you fix your eyes on Him and not on your circumstances, you will begin to see life differently. Instead of thinking negatively, the Holy Spirit will teach you to think about the things of God—pure thoughts that honor Jesus Christ.” (Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible Notes)

A PRAYER FOR SUDAN

Dear Father, please bring peace to Sudan this year. We pray for an end to this terrible conflict. Please protect, comfort and provide for Christians who have no safe place to go and help them build community. We ask for a brighter future for Sudan, where ordinary people will be able to eat and sleep in safety. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessing or Curse?

1-minute devotion for Thursday, 10/2/25

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”

 “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.
 I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;

NOW CONSIDER THIS:

When the Greeks overran Palestine and desecrated the altar in the Jewish temple, they were soon conquered by Rome.

When Rome killed Paul and many others, and destroyed Jerusalem under Titus, Rome soon fell.

Spain was reduced to a fifth-rate nation after the Inquisition against the Jews.

Poland fell after the pogroms.

Hitler’s Germany went down after its orgies of anti-Semitism.

Britain lost her empire when she broke her faith with Israel.

Quote of the Week for 10/1/25

“Every time that good is called evil and evil called good, truth is a casualty. And as we draw closer to Christ’s return, the downward spiral will accelerate.”

Steve Miller, FORESHADOWS, 12 Megaclues That Jesus’ Return Is Nearer Than Ever

“Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness” Isaiah 5:20

Steve Miller’s book, Foreshadows, is excellent and I highly recommend it.

Understanding God’s Power Through Psalm 147

Sunday’s Memory Verse for 9/28/25

“He heals the brokenhearted
    and binds up their wounds.
 He determines the number of the stars
    and calls them each by name.

 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
    his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:3-5

Astronomers estimate that the universe could contain up to one septillion stars – that’s a one followed by 24 zeros. Our Milky Way alone contains more than 100 billion. (NASA)

Yet our God calls each star by name!

How to Get Strength for Spiritual Warfare

1-minute devotion for Friday, 9/26/25

 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17 NLT

Remember this: In spiritual warfare, victory for the Christian starts with TRUTH. Satan fights truth every way he can. He hates truth because he can’t stand against it!

What Is Love?

Verses for Meditation for Thursday, 9/25/25

 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

The Bible tells us why love is vitally important, and then describes what it looks like. There’s a lot here to meditate on! We should probably memorize it. 😊
