Do you ever feel like God isn’t there? When we can’t seem to hear His voice or sense His leading, that’s when it’s time for faith to take charge!
God is always speaking to us in the sense that His Word is alive and all we have to do is open our Bible to hear God’s Word. Today, as I sought the Lord regarding what to write about, I realized that He is always leading me, even when I can’t “feel” it.
How do I know? Because He has promised me He would. If I look to His Word, He speaks. Psalm 119 is about God’s Word, but it also promises that those who love His Word will be rewarded with counsel, wisdom, insight, guidance, and peace.
“Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.” Psalm 119:24
“Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.” Psalm 119:98-99
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105
“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothingcan make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165
“Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.” Psalm 119:140
I will trust Him to lead me because I have surrendered to His will for my life and I love the Word of God. So during times when all I hear is silence, I will trust that He is still leading me through the darkness. I believe His promises are true.
“For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9
“From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.” Isaiah 46:11
“He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3
“He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.” Isaiah 49:10b
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.” Isaiah 58:11a
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Your Watchful Eye Will Lead Me
Your watchful eye will lead me. You never look away. I turn to you for guidance Every single day.
Because I love your Word, And seek to know it well, I trust your hand to guide me, For in my heart Christ dwells.
With Love,
Cindy

When my son was 6 years old, we moved from the quaint rural town of Auburn (population 1,300) to the basketball capital of the world – Lexington, Kentucky!
As a young adult, I had driven in heavy traffic in St. Louis, but apparently you can get rusty and I’ve never had a great sense of direction anyway.
The city of Lexington, Ky has a highway design that can be confusing if you aren’t used to it (or don’t have a good sense of which way is up). It’s based on circles instead of perpendicular streets and looks like a wagon wheel (Whose idea was this?)
Whenever I drove around the main highway circle (They actually named it New Circle Road) and exited onto one of the “spokes” (other main highways), I had a tough time knowing weather to go left or right.
Considering the fact that there were at least 6 lanes to choose from on the exit, I didn’t want to mess up and head off in the wrong direction! I could be on that circle for a long time before I got back to where I wanted to go. (Are you confused yet?)
One day, clueless as to which lane I should get in, I desperately cried out to my “go-to” navigator, my very precocious 6 year old son Zack. (For reasons I don’t understand, he always knew which way to go.)
“Zack! Which way do I go?” I cried out in panic!
I will never forget the answer I got after about the millionth time I asked him this.
“I think it’s just about time you figured this out for yourself”, he calmly replied in his sweet little southern accent.
Panicking even more since I had only nano-seconds to claim my lane, I yelled, “Just tell me!”
“That way!” he quickly responded.
Saved again!
I’m thankful my little boy could help me with directions, but I’m even more thankful that when I don’t know which way to turn in life, there is One who will always help me. God never tires of showing us the way. He is always ready to guide us and direct our path. All we need to do is ask Him.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you … the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. (Psalm 32: 8 and 10)
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105)
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
