Understanding Ezekiel’s Prophecy of the Good Shepherd

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read

“The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel … 4 You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. … 11 “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered … ” Ezekiel 34:1, 2, 4, 11, 12 NIV Read full chapter

This prophecy began to be fulfilled when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. As the Good Shepherd, Jesus ministered to the crowds, who were like wandering sheep without a shepherd. Jesus not only cares for the sheep, He laid down His life for them. (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11 NIV

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” Colossians 1:13 NIV

Unbreakable Love: Romans 8:38-39 Explained

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read Friday’s Verse, 3/28/25 NIV

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 NIV Read full chapter

The apostle Paul articulates one of the most profoundly comforting reassurances in Scripture. He knows this is true, but he is also convinced of it!

Trials Strengthen Our Character

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read Verses for Meditation, 3/27/25

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:3-5 NLT

Endurance: stamina, staying power, fortitude, perseverance, persistence, tenacity, tirelessness, determination (Thesaurus)

In our prayers, we talk to God, in our Bible study, God talks to us, and we had better let God do most of the talking. – D.L. Moody

Trust in the Lord: Renew Your Strength

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read Monday’s Verse, 3/24/25

“The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31 NLT

Empowering Students: A Teacher’s Inspiring Fictional Journey

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read

I know a teacher who wrote a fictional story about the students in her 7th-grade English Class. The story took place in the future and revealed what each student did with their life.

She read a chapter every few days and the students always wanted to hear more, eager to find out who they would become. One boy (who could be a challege) became a war hero. One of the girls became the first female president of the U.S. Another boy became the town Fire Chief and saved many lives. Each student became an important contributor to society, a person who helped others and was well-respected.

The best part was each student’s reaction to the part of the story about themselves. Maybe they had never imagined themselves becoming an important person. Maybe they had never imagined their classmates would become important people. But they did now.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

Create in Me a Pure Heart

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read Friday’s Verses, 3/21/25

“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:7-10 NIV

Jonah’s Miracle: Whale Encounter in Chile

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read Verses for Meditation, 3/20/25

“In my distress I called to the Lord,
    and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,
and you listened to my cry.
But I, with shouts of grateful praise,
    will sacrifice to you.
What I have vowed I will make good.
I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’” Jonah 2:2, 9 NIV

Skeptics scoff at the story of Jonah being swallowed by a whale, but recently a man in Chile experienced just that! And his father captured it on camera.

Quote of the Week, 3/19/25

Cindy Dawson

1-minute read

Disappointment is inevitable. But to become discouraged, there’s a choice I make. God would never discourage me. He would always point me to himself to trust him. Therefore, my discouragement is from Satan. As you go through the emotions that we have, hostility is not from God, bitterness, unforgiveness, all of these are attacks from Satan.” Charles Stanley
