Your Very Special Reward

Sunday’s Memory Verse for 9/14/25

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.” Psalm 127:3 ESV

My thoughts: Children are always a gift from God, regardless of circumstances.

Everything Can Change in an Instant

Verses for meditation for 9/11/25

September 11, 2001 shattered the stability and comfort of American’s lives, leading to a surge in church attendance and Bible sales immediately after the attacks. (Barna)

On that day, many held tightly to our motto: IN GOD WE TRUST

“In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9

“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2 Read full chapter

Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

In this war-torn world, it is crucial that we put out trust in God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. May this day remind us that everything can change in an instant. Don’t wait to put your trust in Jesus! Do it now!

Quote of the Week for 9/10/25

“People believe easily when it doesn’t cost them any discomfort. It’s when it hurts that believing means something.”From the historical fiction book, Storm Clouds Rolling In, by Ginny Dye

In this book, the main character, Carrie, is the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner in 1860 Virginia. When exposed to the cruelty of slavery, she is faced with the cost of standing against it. It will mean turning against those she loves and her very way of life. This quote also holds meaning for believers. Will you continue to believe God’s Word even when it goes against the tide? Will you stand for Truth even when it’s unpopular?

The Depth of God’s Love

1-minute devotion for Monday, 9/8/25

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
 He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him
;” Psalm 103:8-13

How One Woman’s Faith Saved Hundreds of Lives

A Verse for Meditation, Thursday, 9/4/25

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;” Psalm 23:4a NIV

Cornelia “Corrie” ten Boom was a Dutch watchmaker who, along with her family, hid hundreds of Jews in their home during the Nazi Holocaust. It’s believed their efforts saved nearly 800 lives.

They were caught, and she was arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Her most famous book, The Hiding Place, is a biography that recounts the story of her family’s efforts and how she found and shared hope in God while she was imprisoned at the concentration camp.

The Hiding Place is a must-read for all Christ-followers. There is also a movie.

Quote of the Week for 9/3/25

“Because He lives forever, there will never be a time when this great high priest can not show forth His blood that was shed for you, when His prayers will not pour forth effectual blessing upon your life. When you die and are presented before God’s throne, He will be there, pointing to the wounds he earned upon the cross, charging your debt to the account He has already paid. His priesthood is eternal, never-ending, securing eternal life to give you.” Richard D. Phillips, Pastor

” … but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:24-25 Read full chapter

The True Path of Discipleship

Sunday’s Memory Verse for 8/31/25

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Jesus (Mark 8:34 )

Following Jesus is not always easy. It requires faith and courage.

Trusting God in Discouraging Times

Meditation for Thursday, 8/28/25

“Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”?  And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal. So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.  And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” Romans 11:2b-6

My thoughts: These verses remind me that, like Elijah, sometimes we don’t see the whole picture. Elijah was so discouraged that he was about to give up. He thought he was the only one left, but there were 7,000 other faithfuls he didn’t know about. So when you’re discouraged and think all is lost, remember Elijah’s prayer and God’s response!

A Teachable Heart

1-minute devotion for Monday, 8/25/25

“Then He said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. By your own standard of measurement [that is, to the extent that you study spiritual truth and apply godly wisdom] it will be measured to you [and you will be given even greater ability to respond]—and more will be given to you besides. For whoever has [a teachable heart], to him more [understanding] will be given; and whoever does not have [a yearning for truth], even what he has will be taken away from him.” Jesus, Mark 4:24-25 AMP

Commentary: “People reap what they sow, even in their reception to the Word. Those who apply Jesus’ words to their lives are given even more spiritual truth, making their lives richer. Those who do nothing with His words lose what little spiritual understanding they already possess.” Jeremiah Study Bible Notes

Stay Vigilant: The Devil’s Prowl and Our Faith

Sunday’s Memory Verse for 8/24/25

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-11 ESV
