Quote of the Week, 3/26/25

In our prayers, we talk to God, in our Bible study, God talks to us, and we had better let God do most of the talking. – D.L. Moody

Trust in the Lord: Renew Your Strength

1-minute read Monday’s Verse, 3/24/25

“TheΒ LordΒ is the everlasting God,
Β Β Β Β the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
Β Β Β Β No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
Β Β Β Β and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
Β Β Β Β and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in theΒ LordΒ will find new strength.
Β Β Β Β They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
Β Β Β Β They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31 NLT

God’s Handiwork

1-minute read Sunday’s Memory Verse, 3/23/25

“For we are God’s handiwork,Β createdΒ in Christ Jesus to do good works,Β which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Commentary: Our good works are a testimony to God’s grace and power in our lives. They are not for our glory but to point others to Him. (Bible Hub)

Empowering Students: A Teacher’s Inspiring Fictional Journey

1-minute read

I know a teacher who wrote a fictional story about the students in her 7th-grade English Class. The story took place in the future and revealed what each student did with their life.

She read a chapter every few days and the students always wanted to hear more, eager to find out who they would become. One boy (who could be a challege) became a war hero. One of the girls became the first female president of the U.S. Another boy became the town Fire Chief and saved many lives. Each student became an important contributor to society, a person who helped others and was well-respected.

The best part was each student’s reaction to the part of the story about themselves. Maybe they had never imagined themselves becoming an important person. Maybe they had never imagined their classmates would become important people. But they did now.

“Therefore encourage one anotherΒ and build each other up…” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

Create in Me a Pure Heart

1-minute read Friday’s Verses, 3/21/25

“CleanseΒ me with hyssop,Β and I will be clean;
Β Β Β Β wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
Β Β Β Β let the bonesΒ you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
Β Β Β Β and blot outΒ all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart,Β O God,
Β Β Β Β and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:7-10 NIV

Jonah’s Miracle: Whale Encounter in Chile

1-minute read Verses for Meditation, 3/20/25

β€œIn my distress I calledΒ to theΒ Lord,
Β Β Β Β and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the deadΒ I called for help,
Β Β Β Β and you listened to my cry.
Β But I, with shouts of grateful praise,
Β Β Β Β will sacrificeΒ to you.
What I have vowedΒ I will make good.
Β Β Β Β I will say, β€˜SalvationΒ comes from theΒ Lord.’” Jonah 2:2, 9 NIV

Skeptics scoff at the story of Jonah being swallowed by a whale, but recently a man in Chile experienced just that! And his father captured it on camera.

Quote of the Week, 3/19/25

1-minute read

Disappointment is inevitable. But to become discouraged, there’s a choice I make. God would never discourage me. He would always point me to himself to trust him. Therefore, my discouragement is from Satan. As you go through the emotions that we have, hostility is not from God, bitterness, unforgiveness, all of these are attacks from Satan.” Charles Stanley

Standing in the Gap: Intercessory Prayer Explained

1-minute read Tuesday’s Verse, 3/18/25

Β β€œI looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.Β So now I will pour out my fury on them, consuming them with the fire of my anger. I will heap on their heads the full penalty for all their sins. I, the SovereignΒ Lord, have spoken!” Ezekiel 22:30-31 NLT

Commentary: This is a vivid way to show how a human intercessor appeals to a holy, angry God and convinces Him not to destroy His people but to extend mercy to them …. God is predisposed to show mercy, even when judgment is deserved. (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)

Understanding ‘For My Name’s Sake’

1-minute read Monday’s Verse, 3/17/25

“You will know that I am theΒ Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, you people of Israel, declares the SovereignΒ Lord.’” Ezekiel 20:44 NIV

Comments: As I read through the book of Ezekiel, I noticed that the prophecies frequently said that God would deal with the people “for my name’s sake” and not according to what they have done. Pastor David Jeremiah explains:

“When God says that He deals with Israel for my name’s sake, He means that He interacts with the people on the basis of who He is – a holy, righteous, sovereign, patient, gracious, wise, and omnipotent God – not on the basis of who they are or according to their evil ways or corrupt practices. God shows us grace and showers us with His mercy because of His character, not because of our behavior. It is because of His unchanging character that we can place our trust in Him.” (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)
