  1. Cindy, this is such a needed reminder. The way you frame prayer here pushes us past the idea that we’re trying to persuade God and instead invites us into the deeper reality Scripture holds out—that true prayer begins with Him. That shifts everything. It turns prayer from striving into alignment, from anxiety into trust.

    1 John 5:14–15 is one of those passages that steadies the soul. You highlight it well: confidence doesn’t come from the intensity of our asking but from the certainty of His will and His attentiveness. When our hearts are shaped by His desires, prayer becomes less about outcomes and more about communion. It becomes the place where we learn to want what He wants.

    Thank you for this encouragement. It’s a quiet but powerful call to pray with open hands, trusting that the God who inspires our prayers also fulfills His purposes through them.

  3. I love how you’ve worded this so simply but yet with straight, narrow, and profound truth.
    Recently I prayed on behalf of a sweet friend with a big bold prayer, there were many of us prayer warriors petitioning in fact. The end result did not turn out how any of us had hoped. It was devastating but as I’ve reflected I realize our prayers were more based on our will, rather than His. In the end He gained my friend’s precious baby Heaven-side. What a reminder that Heaven holds so much wonder that we won’t ever understand here on earth. But His will is always full of wisdom and love even when it’s hard for us to comprehend.

    1 John 5:14-15 encourages me to ask according to His will. Beautiful post, wonderful reminder.

    1. Thank you, Alicia, for sharing this with me. I am so sorry for your friend. I can’t imagine greater pain than losing your child. I’m thankful she has friends like you to bring comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) 🙏

      1. Oh we’ve shown her so much care. We have grieved right alongside her. It has been the hardest thing I’ve ever walked through but my therapist reminded me grief is a sign of love. I’ve been holding that truth near and dear.
