Love Does Not Affirm a Dangerous Path

We must not affirm sinful behavior because it has become acceptable in our culture. If you aren’t sure about which behaviors are evil and/or dangerous, the truth can be found in the Bible. God’s Word is Truth and the final authority. The Word says,

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” 1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV

Going along with anything and everything is not love. Sin brings pain and heartache. It always does. That’s why God warns us against it.

“This is the way sin works: it comes covered in an attractive veneer that hides its evil and hideous consequences.” Pastor David Jeremiah

Standing for truth is not being legalistic, as some accuse. Speaking the truth protects the innocent. Truth is the antidote for deception and deception is the enemy of mankind.

Standing for truth isn’t hard to do when evil is something society detests. But what about when sinful behavior is something our culture affirms? What sin does our society affirm? All you have to do is watch TV to find out. TV is filled with stories that seek to normalize sinful behaviors.

I never thought I’d see the day when women would celebrate because they had won the right to murder their unborn baby. But many women in America demand abortion rights during all months of pregnancy, and they call it healthcare. It’s not healthcare we’re talking about. It’s killing your baby for convenience. If we’re going to have this discussion, we should at least be honest about it.

There’s a reason abortion advocates call it healthcare. It’s more palatable to call it healthcare or women’s rights than to call it what it is.

Abortion is just one evil that our culture affirms. There are many others. My question for you is: Will you love? Or will you affirm evil? Affirming evil is not love. It takes courage to stand up for what is right.

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” 1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV

At one time, I didn’t understand this verse. Why would anyone delight in evil? Now I understand.

What other sinful behaviors does our culture affirm that are, in reality, dangerous paths? Will you stand up for truth to protect the innocent and/or the misinformed? It won’t be easy, but it will be loving.

  1. I agree wholeheartedly with you Cindy: believers need to stand up for God’s Truth today, even if it costs them. Increasingly this is the reality we are facing; that this evil world will not tolerate our stand for God’s Truth, and will punish us for it. I have a post coming soon which is related to this.
May our Father God continue to guide and bless you sister, as you share His Truth, Amen 🙏

  2. Sending my love, Cindy. Thank you for standing up for those who cannot help themselves. Did you know that while in the womb some babies have tried to get away from the thing coming at it? So sick and sad to kill their own baby.
    It truly hurts my heart.

    1. It hurts me, too. Many women are pushed into having an abortion. Afterward, they are traumatized by what they have done. And sometimes the trauma continues throughout their entire life. Thanks for your encouragement and support. Blessings, Donna!

  3. You have said this so well, Cindy. The women facing unwanted pregnancy listen to these lies because they are afraid…yet they can find hope, support, and life through Christian pregnancy centers. I pray that more women will be awakened to the truth and trust in God to choose life for their unborn children.

  4. It is sickening that people are celebrating abortion- absolutely heartbreaking. I believe, we should stand in boldness when it comes to declaring God’s word. Even if people may hate or disagree with you. I stumbled upon this post and I feel encouraged. Thank you, keep doing God’s work

  5. You are absolutely right, Cindy. So many people put all the focus on loving others, but what they really mean is that we are to condone their behaviors, no matter what they are. The verse you shared is perfect. Thank you for your godly stand and encouraging us to do the same.

    1. Truth, given to us through God’s Word, the Holy Bible, is not respected in today’s culture. And all too often, those who do are silent. It takes courage to stand up for what you believe. May God grant us courage to love as we should. Blessings, Patty! 🙏
