Quote of the Week, 7/7/21

“Your call will become clear as your mind is transformed by the reading of Scripture and the internal work of God’s Spirit. The Lord never hides His will from us. In time, as you obey the call first to follow, your destiny will unfold before you. The difficulty will lie in keeping other concerns from diverting your attention.”

  1. I have been wondering what I am to do next, with my life, now that I am retired, that would make a difference and Glorify God. I want to do something to benefit others. I have some talents, some life experiences, and things I really love to do. I dream every night, without fail about something to do with children being involved in the dream. I am always saving them from something be it flood, fire, storm or some enemy. I love kids but not sure what I am supposed to exactly do with that other than what I am already doing by being a grandmother and spending my time with them. I picked up a book today on sale (on the bargain shelves) at a book store by (Bishop) T.D. Jakes, whom I love to listen to called: Destiny-Step into Your Purpose. Maybe this will give me further insight than my daily Bible reading which is a sure foundation for anything we set our hearts and minds out to do.

    1. Hi Cathy! Churches always need more Sunday School teachers. I taught 1st through 3rd grade at our mission church for a long time. Then covid put an end to their SS program. Now I’m helping out on Sunday morning and Sunday night with the same age group at my church. I think teaching Sunday School to our kids is very important. May God bless you as you seek His guidance.

      1. I used to teach Sunday School too. They were some of the best days of my life! Now I am searching for a church. Ours has become very “Woke” and I am turning off to their socialist agenda (Evangelical Lutheran). I would love to find a Baptist church or one that is not afraid to stand up to some positions the world is taking to the detriment of our society.

        1. Good for you!! I totally agree. I hope you find a good church soon. It’s going to become more and more difficult to stand for Biblical teaching and not compromise the truth. We will need our brothers and sisters in Christ to be able to stand firm, and they will need us. Many blessings, Cathy!

  2. I just picked up a book by Bishop T.D. Jakes today on the sale table at the bookstore called: Destiny – Step into Your Purpose. Bishop Jakes is full of energy and love his messages.

I have been wondering what it is God wants me to be doing now that I am retired. I am finding myself with more time and solitude which is good but sometimes it leaves me anxious. “Do not be anxious about anything but with prayer and supplication make your requests known to God and the peace of God will give you understanding.” This is how I recall one Bible verse to my memory. Starting each day in God’s word is a sure foundation before we set out to do anything our hearts and minds might desire. Thank you for the post, Cindy! A timely message for me!
