Boasting in the Lord

1 minute read

Tuesday’s Verse, 2/4/25

“This is what the Lord says:

“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
    justice and righteousness on earth,
    for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 NIV Read full chapter

Two directives God gives us as He uses people in His service:

  1. That they do not boast about themselves or any personal achievement
  2. That they give the glory to God (from Jeremiah Study Bible notes)

The God of all Comfort

1 minute read

Sunday’s Memory Verse, 2/2/25

“When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:18-19 NIV

The Hebrew word “tanchum” refers to comfort or consolation, often in the context of providing solace during times of distress or mourning. It embodies the act of offering emotional support and reassurance, reflecting a deep sense of empathy and compassion.

When anxiety is great within us, God Himself will comfort us if we look to Him. There is no better comfort than that.

Understanding Our Blessed Hope in Christ

1 minute read

Tuesday’s Verse, 1/28/25

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:11-14 NIV

Note: the believer’s sure and “blessed hope” is when Jesus returns to judge the earth and set up His kingdom. In the Greek, the word wait conveys the idea of persistent expectation. (Jeremiah Study Bible Notes)

Strength through Suffering

1 minute read

Monday’s Verse, 1/27/25

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” 1 Peter 4:12-13 NIV

In the end, just as the oyster coats an intrusive speck of sand with a smooth substance until it becomes a pearl of great value, God layers our difficulties with His greatness and glory until we develop our own pearl of great price – strength of character. (Jeremiah Study Bible)

Finding Strength in Our Weakness

1 minute read

Friday’s Verse, 1/24/25

“But he (Jesus) said to me (Paul), “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

“Thus, our shortcomings are not a barrier to God’s work but a canvas for His power and glory.” Bruce Cooper, Pressing On in Christ Despite Our Shortfalls

God’s Purpose and Protection

1 minute read

Verses for Meditation, 1/23/25

“Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me,
For my soul finds shelter and safety in You,
And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure
Until destruction passes by.
I will cry to God Most High,
Who accomplishes all things on my behalf [for He completes my purpose in His plan].
” Psalm 57:1-2 AMP

Note: This is a psalm of David when he fled for his life from King Saul and hid in a cave. Read about how David spared Saul’s life and went on to become king, as God planned all along. 1 Samuel 24

Trust in God. He will fulfill His purpose for you, too!

Trusting God When Times Are Tough

1 minute read

Quote of the Week, 1/22/25

It is in dark times that faith often becomes stronger. Just ask Elijah when he fled from Jezebel or Paul when he was locked in a Roman prison. If there is nothing left but to trust God, then there is nothing you can do except – you guessed it – to trust God. When you do, it is one hundred percent guaranteed that He will show Himself faithful and your dependence on Him will grow.

Amir Tsarfati, Behold Israel

“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3 NLT

Friday’s Verse, 1/17/25

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NIV Read full chapter

Comment: In our world today, people disagree about what is True. But there is a way to find Truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
