Quote of the Week, 7/5/23

Spiritual discernment is good for more than just making monumental decisions according to God’s will. It is an essential, day-to-day activity that allows thoughtful Christians to separate the truth of God from error and to distinguish right from wrong in all kinds of settings and situations. It is also a skill – something that any person can develop and improve…”

TIM CHALLIES

My copy of Tim Challies book, The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment is highlighted, starred, underlined, and frequently book-marked. It is one of the most important books in my library.

Monday’s Verse, 7/3/23

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believeβ€”as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” 1 Corinthians 3:5-6 NIV (emphasis mine)

My Thoughts: Keep planting seeds. Ask God to make them grow.

Sunday’s Memory Verse, 7/2/23

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV

My thoughts: The Bible puts great emphasis on the importance of Truth. We can always depend on God’s Word, even when we don’t understand. Man’s opinions, not so much.

Friday’s Verse, 6/23/23

Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and a good reputation
In the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 NASB

Verses for Meditation, 6/22/23

β€œNo one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen.” Luke 8:16-18a NIV (emphasis mine)

    so great is his love for those who fear him;

    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:11-12
