Quote of the Week, 4/3/24

Our Father God’s clock moves at His pace, and His blessings are always on time for His faithful ones who acknowledge Him before men. God does indeed speak and live in the hearts of His children today, including you and me.

This excellent, short devotional about Joseph will encourage you today! It did me!

Tuesday’s Verse, 4/2/24

Jesus said to the Jewish leaders,

“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.  If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.” John 5:45-46 NIV (emphasis mine)

How many prophecies did Jesus fulfill? Many! See the answer on GotQuestions.org here.

Monday’s Verse, 4/1/24

” … he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11 NIV (emphasis mine)

Oh the Things God Can Do!

Some of you asked how my daughter and her new husband met. Here’s the rest of the story:

Once upon a time, there was a lonely man in Texas. And there was a lonely woman in Kentucky. (1,000 miles apart).

Both the man and the woman had traveled difficult paths filled with tragedy and heartbreak. But they persevered, loving and serving Jesus.

God looked down, saw these two children of His, and remembered His promise to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

How would He bring them together? God had a plan!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Here’s what happened:

  1. Even though the man had attended the same church his whole life, God led him to a new church where he became an integral part of the music ministry as their keyboard player.
  2. God called the woman to go to Africa to serve Him as a missionary at a children’s hospital. When she arrived in Africa, she met a woman from Texas who had brought her children there to help at the children’s hospital for 2 weeks. (Can you see where this is going?)
  3. The women became good friends through Facetime and texting.
  4. As time went on and they became better friends, the woman from Texas invited her to come to Texas and join her family in a ministry.
  5. So the woman moved to Texas.
  6. She started attending the church where the man was part of the music ministry.
  7. Even though the church they were attending was very, very large, she was asked to join the music ministry as a singer.
  8. The man and woman met and fell in love. Now you know the rest of the story!
  9. His prayers and her prayers were answered. I am reminded of this verse,

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” Romans 8:28 AMP

I share this story to encourage you. God loves you and knows what is going on in your life. Trust Him with your whole heart. Even though bad things may happen that you can’t understand, God has promised to work them together for good. I have seen this play out over and over in my own life.

Note: Born on the same date, they married on their birthday! Also, interesting: Her name means “Christ-follower”. His name means “Gift of God”.

Friday’s Verse, 3/29/24

“Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites—everyone whose heart God had moved—prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem.” Ezra 1:5 NIV (emphasis mine)

My thoughts: Pray that God will move the heart of the one you are praying for to be saved. He can do that!

Verses for Meditation, 3/28/24

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 NASB

My thoughts: The Holy Spirit has been given to help us, guide us, teach us truth, and encourage us! Hallelujah!

Quote of the Week, 3/27/24

We must be so well versed in the truth, so faithful to the truth, and such a doer of truth that he (Satan) will not be able to deceive us with his lies. Apart from the Word of God, we are sitting ducks!

Tuesday’s Verse, 3/26/24

“Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27 NASB

Monday’s Verse, 3/25/24

With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord:

“He is good;
his love toward Israel endures forever.” Ezra 3:11 NIV (emphasis mine)

Forever: continuous existence, perpetual, everlasting, indefinite or unending future, eternity (Strong’s)

My thoughts: God loves Israel. Shouldn’t we?
