Verse for Meditation, 1/11/24

“May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5 NIV (emphasis mine)

To direct means “to remove the obstacles that stand in the way” – in this case, any barriers to spiritual growth. (David Jeremiah Study Bible notes)

Quote of the Week, 1/10/24

Jesus came and the last days began. The church has been waiting in expectancy since then… Let’s make sure our words and actions put forth a clear message that Jesus is coming soon, and that all need to be ready to meet Him.”

Amir Tsarfati, from his book The Day Approaching

“In the past God spokeĀ to our ancestors through the prophetsĀ at many times and in various ways,Ā but in these last daysĀ he has spoken to us by his Son,Ā whom he appointed heirĀ of all things, and through whomĀ also he made the universe.” Hebrews 1:1-2 NIV (emphasis mine)

Tuesday’s Verse, 1/9/24

ā€œThe coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,  and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.ā€ 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NIV

My thoughts: Make sure you love the truth. God’s Word is Truth.

Friday’s Verse, 1/5/24

Verses for Meditation, 1/4/24

“This is the verdict: LightĀ has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.Ā Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.Ā But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:19-21 NIV (emphasis mine)

Jesus said, ā€œI amĀ the light of the world.Ā Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.ā€ John 8:12 NIV

Quote of the Week, 1/3/24

Controversy for its own sake is sin. Controversy for the sake of the truth is a divine mandate.”

Tuesday’s Verse, 1/2/24

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV

My thoughts: He extends mercy for our past failures and freely gives us grace that cannot be earned. It is freely given.Ā Praise the Lord!

Monday’s Verse, 1/1/24

“We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:19 NIV (emphasis mine)

My thoughts: We have the Bible, which is the prophetic message, to guide us in this dark world.
