“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.” Psalm 139:1-4 NIV

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. Psalm 139:9-10 NIV
My thoughts: This verse assures us that God will guide us when we are surrendered to His will. Trust Him to guide you.

“For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.” Zechariah 2:8-9 NIV Read full chapter

Every book of the New Testament, with the exception of Philemon, warns believers of false teachers. The battle between truth and error has been raging ever since Genesis 3.

“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me;” Psalm 86:11-13 NIV

My dog, Henry (above with my daughter), likes to walk on the curb, so sometimes I do it, too. I figure it’s good for my balance. I have discovered that if I look at my feet I’ll fall off the curb, but if I look ahead several yards, I don’t fall off. It reminded me of Paul’s words,
” … I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14 NIV
Sometimes we get so focused on what’s going on in our lives (looking at our feet) that we forget to keep our eyes on Jesus (what is ahead). What’s even worse is to look behind, and dwell on past mistakes.
God reminded me that I must not dwell on today’s problems or yesterday’s failings, but fix my eyes on Jesus instead. So I will read my Bible and praise Him. I will look to the Savior of my soul for the strength for today.
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:2

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NIV
