“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 NIV

God forgives even the worst of sinners. But sometimes it can be almost impossible to forgive yourself. There is nothing the devil would like more than to torment you by reminding you of your past. So what can you do? I have good news for you: The Bible addresses this specific problem!
Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NIV
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, … let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience …” Hebrews 10:19-22 NIV
The Apostle Paul said,
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.” 1 Timothy 1:15-16 NIV
Saul, who later became known as the Apostle Paul put Christ-followers to death! But he said that Jesus showed him mercy to display His immense patience as an example for us. Yes, God even forgives murder.
Paul said, “I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison…” Acts 22:4-5 NIV
The Good News is this:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2 NIV
The blood of Jesus brings forgiveness for the vilest sin. It will even cleanse you from a guilty conscience. The cross is enough!

“Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air].” James 4:14 AMP
My thoughts: Be ready for Christ’s soon return.

“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.” Psalm 5:11-12 NLT

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8 NIV
My thoughts: Many years ago when my son was a baby, I found a long snake skin in my closet. The only way I could sleep was to meditate on this verse. We never found the snake. Maybe an angel chased him out!

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 NIV

“There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still,”
Corrie ten Boom
Remember that quote as you read on because that’s the good news.
On January 27, 2024, we commemorate the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz.
The featured photo above is of the train tracks entering Auschwitz Concentration Camp. For the world, Auschwitz is a symbol of the Holocaust and the cruelties of World War II when 8 million Jews were murdered in an act of Nazi genocide. You can go there today and see it for yourself.
But did you know that one in five young Americans thinks the Holocaust is a myth? How is that possible? It is alarming, but it also shows how vulnerable to propaganda young adults are today.
Rockie Blunt, U.S. Army (Ret), part of the Allied forces who liberated the prisoners at Auschwitz told his interviewer that prisoners said to him, “Promise me you will never let the world forget what you are seeing here today.”
You can watch Rockie’s testimony here on the History Channel: Horrors of Auschwitz
The Hiding Place, by Corrie ten Boom greatly impacted my life. If you haven’t read it, you must obtain a copy for your library and read about how she showed God’s love for others by hiding Jews in her home during WWII. Here is a passage from the book.
"Would you be willing to take a Jewish mother and her baby into your home?"
Color drained from the man's face. He took a step back from me. "Miss ten Boom! I do hope you're not involved with any of this illegal concealment ... It's just not safe! Think of your father!"
I pulled the coverlet back from the baby's face. The man bent forward, his hand in spite of himself reaching for the tiny fist curled around the blanket. For a moment I saw compassion and fear struggle in his face. Then he straightened. "No. Definitely not. We could lose our lives for that Jewish child!"
Unseen by either of us, Father had appeared in the doorway. "Give the child to me, Corrie," he said.
Father held the baby close, his white beard brushing its cheek, looking into the little face with eyes as blue and innocent as the baby's ... "You say we could lose our lives for this child. I would consider that the greatest honor that could come to my family."
What makes someone literally risk their life for another like Corrie, her sister Betsy, and their father did? All three of them were eventually caught and taken to a prison camp by the Gestapo where Corrie’s father died. Corrie and her sister were eventually taken to Ravensbruck Concentration Camp where Betsy died from maltreatment.
The terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 was the most shocking example of anti-semitism since the Holocaust. Today, anti-semitism is worse than it’s ever been since Hitler’s reign of terror. What will happen next? What will Christians be willing to do? What would you be willing to do?
Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
