“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:3-5 NIV

I had clicked on Cindy’s post and notice she used a picture I had taken from a boat by the Apostle Islands in lake Superior. When I read the bible verse she had posted I got excited. Not only did the verse fit the picture really well, but there was so much more to what she was posting. More than Cindy could know and more than the reader could know. Take a look and read the verse.
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the wayI should go, for to you I entrust my life.” Psalm 143:8 NIV
Here is what no one else knew. The rock in the picture is one of the outermost apostle Islands. The area is dangerous for big ships in the dark or any weather with…
The world is changing so quickly that we never know what trouble tomorrow will bring. Many believe that the answer to our present crisis lies in electing the right politicians. Life in Judea during the life of Jesus was similar in many ways. The Jewish people looked for a political Messiah who would deliver them from the iron heel of Roman occupation and oppression. Nowhere is this clearer than in the following passage:
(Jesus) “began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.” But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Mark 8:31:31-33 NIV (Emphasis mine)
As I read these verses today, Jesus’ words to Peter jumped off the page. Read again what Jesus said: “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
What were the “concerns of God”? – To rescue people from sin and death. What were the human concerns? – To rescue the people from political oppression.
Jesus knew that humanity most needs liberation from the bondage of sin and the consequences of God’s wrath, not from political oppression.”

If we don’t want a baby, we must take responsibility for our actions before a baby becomes a reality. God has made us capable of having babies, and when one has been conceived, it is His intention for that child to come into the world. The moment the child is conceived, he is a person, and to abort a pregnancy is murder of a human being.”

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!” Jesus (Matthew 18:6-7 NIV Emphasis mine)

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Jesus (Mark 8:34 NIV)
Following Jesus is not always easy. It requires faith, and sometimes it requires courage.
