Why Attending Church Isn’t Enough

Food for Thought for Monday, 10/12/26

You may be attending a good Bible-believing church. Maybe you’ve attended it since you were a child. Your church may even be Biblically sound in what they teach. But that isn’t enough if they avoid topics they deem controversial.

Does your church teach you about false teachers?

Does your church teach you Bible prophecy?

Does your church teach you about the dangers of the occult?

If your church avoids teaching anything controversial, you need to make sure you are studying your Bible for yourself, all of it. If they don’t teach the topics listed above, important Biblical teaching is being ignored. Consider this:

  1. False teachers and/or false prophets are taught in every book of the New Testament except for one. That sounds important to me.
  2. In the New Testament, almost every book contains some prophecy, with Revelation being wholly devoted to a prophetic vision. That sounds important to me.
  3. The Bible says that witchcraft is detestable to the Lord. That sounds important to me, too.

“Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord;” Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Your Bible is your guide to truth. Read it. Study it. Apply it to your life.

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.” Psalm 119:9

“If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.” Psalm 119:92

The Church must teach the whole counsel of God’s Word, even if it steps on some toes.

In His Love, Cindy
