Forgiving Can Be Hard

Monday’s Meditation, 10/5/26

“Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 NIV

Getting you to hold unforgiveness toward someone is one of Satan’s dirty tricks. I know it can be hard. I’ve had to forgive some big things myself, but God has forgiven me of some big things as well.

There is only one way to forgive the unforgivable, and that is with God’s help. Ask Him for help. He will not turn you away.

In His Love, Cindy

  1. Thank you for this timely reminder, Cindy. Forgiveness really can be incredibly hard, especially when the hurt has been deep and the wrong seems anything but small. I think one of the most important things you say here is that we need God’s help. We aren’t always capable of simply deciding to forgive through our own strength.

I also love the reminder that holding on to unforgiveness can become a trap. It can keep us tied to the hurt long after the original moment has passed, whereas bringing it honestly to God allows Him to begin doing the work of healing in us.

And what a humbling thought that God has forgiven us for the things we have got wrong. That doesn’t make what others have done to us insignificant, but it does remind us of the incredible grace we ourselves have received.

A beautiful Monday meditation, Cindy. Thank you for pointing us back to God’s grace and reminding us that when forgiveness feels impossible, we can ask Him to help us take that next step. In His strength, what seems impossible to us is never beyond Him. 😀

    1. Amen! Steve, Thank you for adding your encouraging thoughts to this post. Forgiveness can be complicated because sometimes what we need to forgive cannot be forgotten. But we can still forgive them as an act of our will. That doesn’t necessarily mean we have to trust that person or renew the relationship, like in the case of abuse. God bless you today, Steve!

  2. You’re right, Cindy. Forgiveness can be so hard. We must always pray, and rebuke Satan’s attacks to try to manipulate us. Thank you for this biblical reminder.
    Praying God’s blessings over you.

  3. Forgiveness in the Kingdom is never a small thing. It is spiritual warfare in slow motion. When you release someone, you’re not excusing the wound—they may never acknowledge it, never repent, never change. But forgiveness is you refusing to let the enemy weaponize the hurt against your heart.

Paul’s warning rings through what you’re reading: unforgiveness is one of Satan’s schemes. He doesn’t need you to fall into scandal; he just needs you to hold onto bitterness long enough for it to calcify. But the King refuses to let bitterness be your master. He invites you into a freedom that doesn’t depend on the offender’s behavior but on His grace working in you.

So forgive—not because it’s easy, not because they deserve it, but because the Kingdom has already forgiven you more than you can measure. Forgiveness is how you declare, “The enemy doesn’t get to write the ending of this story.” It’s how you stand with the King, in the light, refusing to be outwitted.

Let the Spirit help you do what your flesh cannot. In the Kingdom, forgiveness is not weakness—it’s victory.

  4. This post is very important Cindy – forgiveness is hard but necessary, especially for the believer. I had to learn how to forgive my abusive father and also a guy who attempted to kill me many years ago; Satan used both these incidents to stir up hatred and spiritual strife. Praise God who saved me and guided me out of that darkness – He is a Loving Father indeed!
God bless you today my friend and sister 🙏

    1. Yes! I am reminded that the Holy Spirit is our Helper.
“But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.” John 16:7 NASB
      Blessings, Mary!
