Quote of the Week for Friday, 10/2/26
“There will be times when God’s will is not what we would naturally choose.
There will be times when obedience costs us something.
There will be times when we do not understand why God has permitted the road before us to take the direction it has.
Gethsemane reminds us that submission to God does not require pretending that the cup is easy.
Nor does trusting God require us to understand why the cup has been permitted.
It means trusting the Father enough to say:
“Yet not my will, but Yours be done.”

The Lord appeared to Abram and said, … “I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you…” Genesis 17:7 (emphasis mine)

This reflection carries a needed honesty about obedience. Gethsemane is not a scene of effortless surrender—it’s the place where the Son of God shows us that trusting the Father can feel costly, confusing, and heavy. What you’ve shared reminds us that faith doesn’t erase the cup; it steadies our hands as we lift it.
What stands out is the reminder that submission doesn’t require pretending. Jesus didn’t minimize the pain, and He didn’t hide the anguish. He simply trusted the Father more than He trusted His own desire for relief. That’s the heart of real discipleship—obedience that isn’t built on understanding the path, but on knowing the One who leads us down it.
Thank you for this reminder. It’s gentle, but it’s also grounding. It calls us to the kind of trust that doesn’t wait for explanations, the kind of surrender that echoes Jesus’ own words: “Yet not my will, but Yours be done.” May we learn to follow Him with that same courage when the road bends in ways we didn’t expect.

That’s a great reminder to let go of what we think we need and trust the bigger picture.
