Overcoming Doubts: Trusting God’s Call

1-Minute Devotion for Thursday, 8/27/26

Do you ever question your calling (that which you believe God has called you to do)? If the answer is yes, don’t be surprised, because that is Satan’s attack on your mind. He wants to stop what you are doing. He wants you to give up.

Remember who Satan is: The deceiver (Revelation 12:9) and the father of lies (John 8:44).

Perhaps you have even prayed, Lord, I want to please you. Is this what you want me to do?

This is the answer to your prayer:

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Are you earnestly seeking God? If you are, then trust Him to keep His promises.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8 NIV

Thank you, Lord, my God, for your precious promises. They are more precious than silver and gold.

There are often times when the Earl of Hell puts doubts in my way; But I thank him for reminding me of my Heavenly Father and His love for me – the enemy hates that.   3. Cindy, this really spoke to me today. I think most of us who are trying to follow God’s call have moments when we wonder, “Lord, am I really doing what You want me to do?”

    Doubt can be incredibly discouraging, especially when things don’t seem to be going as we expected. But I love the reminder that if we are earnestly seeking God, we can trust Him to guide us. We don’t always get the whole roadmap, thankfully, because I’d probably try to take the steering wheel! 😄

    Psalm 32:8 is such a comforting promise. Thank you for this timely encouragement, Cindy. 🙏

      1. Cindy, thank you. That genuinely means a lot to me. I have always believed that if God gives us a voice, whatever form that voice takes, we should use it to encourage people and point them back to Him. So if my words can do that, I am incredibly grateful.

        And I love what you said about “serving the King.” That really is what it comes down to for me. Whether I am writing, making music, leading worship, or simply encouraging someone through a few words, I want it to be useful to Him. Sarah and I are very blessed to be able to serve Him together.
