Is God Calling You?

For Your Reflection, 7/2/26

“He (Jesus) called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Matthew 18:2-6 NIV

We must not take these verses lightly. The Lord places great importance on the education of children. And I have to tell you, there is nothing that gives me more joy than when one of my former students (from my 2 to 4-year-olds class) comes up to me at church to give me a big hug. And that’s why I found the following quote by D.L. Moody so interesting.

Although the exact date of this quote is unknown, it is believed that toward the end of his life, after decades of ministry, D.L. Moody said this:

“If I could relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God.”

It was said of D.L. Moody, “Judged by the lasting results of his work, he shares honors with Lincoln as our greatest contribution to humanity in the nineteenth century.” Reverend D.W. Philpott, D.D., Chicago Tribune, February 5, 1928

If you think God is calling you to Children’s Ministry, say, “Yes, Lord. Send me.”

By the way, I was 6 years old when I asked Jesus into my heart. My daughter, who is now in full-time ministry, was only 4 years old when she gave her life to Jesus.

Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:16 NIV

In His Love, Cindy

  1. This post reminds me of my fond memories when I was involved in children’s ministry. It was such a rewarding time that I often think about – I do miss it. Yet, I am grateful to be able to serve God at the Mustard Seed – that is a blessing too. All glory to God!
God bless you today my friend and sister 🙏

    1. Recently, someone told me that according to some theologian, a child must be at least 7 years old to receive Christ. I said, “Show me that in the Bible. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
God bless you, my friend and brother!🙏

  2. This brought me to tears, precious Cindy. I undersand this SO much. I have such a heavy burden for little ones. Also, to have faith as a child and to HEED the call to do whatever the Lord asks.
Recently, I’ve been sending things to my grandkids about faith…the truth of our Savior….sometimes crying that I’m not around them more to teach them about Christ. The hardest prayers–laying them at his feet. Yet, heeding the call to impact anyone around me. In sickness and in health.
I’ve been very sick since my treatment, C. I’ll have more bloodwork and scans (July 16th–labs, 27th–scans). The tough impacts have surprised me. Yet, I also know that I’m further down the road and shouldn’t be surprised. The one thing I cling to–even in tears–is Christ. There’s not a day I don’t pray for you and think of you and Henry. May God bless you both–your precious daughter and son and families. Give Henry our hugs too. We love you both! Thank you for being a light of truth in our world for Christ and His Kingdom! ❣️❣️🙏🏻🐾🥰

    1. Karla, I want to share something personal with you that I hope will infuse you with an even deeper trust in our Savior. When I was a small child, I lived with my grandmother until I was 8 years old. During that time, I asked Jesus into my heart at age 6. Then when I was 8, I moved 1,000 miles away to live with my mother and stepfather. They didn’t attend church, so I went by myself. When I went to college, I drifted far from Christ. I know that my grandmothers prayed for me every day. Eventually I returned to the Lord. I have always credited that to two things: 1. Jesus said, “no one will snatch them out of my hand.” And 2. The prayers of my grandmothers.
The prayers of a grandmother are powerful. I know that is true and I’m so thankful that mine loved Jesus and faithfully prayed for me. Nothing will have more impact on your grandchildren than your prayers for them.
I pray for you every night. Henry and I love you and Finn, too. You are a dear friend and my sister in Christ. May God bless you, encourage you, and strengthen you every day! 🙏💕🐾

      1. More tears my precious, Cindy. THANK YOU for sharing this beautiful testimony of your life. From childhood decisions and life circumstances–to the prayers of Grandmothers. To JESUS NEVER letting us be snatched out of HIS hand. Hallelujah!
I also drifted, Cindy. I allowed the “work in church” to overtake me. Perfectionism set me up for failure. Then, when I fell–the church “building” was unkind. I went through tough years.
        My grandmother also prayed,, Cindy.
Living in union with God might seem lonely. Others in my life don’t always understand. But it’s ok with me. I think of the Living Word and the truth of the costs in following Him—losing family, friends,…yet, ALL that is GAINED in following Him. The only Way, Truth, and Light!
I will continue praying and won’t give up on anyone. The burdens are heavy and moreso in this day and age.
I pray for you as you do for me too, precious sister. You are dear to me! Happy 4th precious friend. Finley and I are going to have one family dinner at a pizza place with my parents. The “kids” are away at their homes and it will be quiet. I don’t mind at all! May God bless you always! We love you 2! ❣️💞🥰🐾🐾🙏🏻

  3. Karla, I think God gives Christian grandmothers a special calling to pray for their precious grandchildren because He knows how much they love them.

When you find another Christian who understands you, it is nothing less than a gift from God. I am thankful for our friendship, sweet friend.

Henry and I send our love and prayers. 🙏💕🐾
