Embracing What Matters Most

1-minute devotion for Monday, 1/19/26

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42

My thoughts: Regardless of how important and even necessary the things we do in serving God are, Jesus said that there is one thing that is better than them all. Mary listened to Jesus’ words, but we have His entire Word, the Bible. What a blessing!

In His Love, Cindy

All Scripture is from the NIV unless stated otherwise.

  1. Yes Cindy, how blessed we are to have the entire Word of God in our hands – hallelujah 🙌 But let us also remember those who risk their lives to have a Bible if they can find one at all. I remember seeing a video of persecuted saints receiving a Bible in great joy and tears.
God bless you today sister 🙏
