God’s Irrevocable Covenant with Israel

1-minute devotion for Thursday, 12/4/25

“I  ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew.” Romans 11:1-2

“God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29

“And when it comes to Israel, this has never been – and will never be – a political topic. It is a divine covenant. No matter which government leads this small nation – liberal, conservative, or in between – God continues to preserve, protect, and fight for His people, even while they remain in unbelief. To those who claim that Israel has somehow fallen from grace, I can only say: God’s promises are not dependent on human faithfulness but on His unchanging nature.”

  1. This subject confuses me. I hear some people saying the Israel of today is not the same Israel that is spoken about in the Bible.Have you heard this also?

    1. Yes, I have heard this, but I completely disagree for many reasons. For one thing, numerous Biblical prophecies in both the Old and New Testaments foretold that the people of Israel would be scattered across the world and then supernaturally gathered back to their land in the “latter days”. This happened in 1948 when the Jews were given back the land of Israel after the Holocaust. The land of Israel was a barren, empty land then. Today it is a thriving, nation of more than 10 million people. Only God could have made this happen!
People who claim that Israel today is not the same Israel of the Bible can not possibly justify that opinion.
The Apostle Paul says, “… all Israel will be saved. As it is written:

      “The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
And this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.” Romans 11:25-27
The covenant God made with Israel is an everlasting covenant!
“This is what the Lord says,

      he who appoints the sun
      to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
      to shine by night,
      who stirs up the sea
      so that its waves roar—
the Lord Almighty is his name:
“Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,”
      declares the Lord,
      “will Israel ever cease
being a nation before me.” (Jeremiah 31:35-36)
There are many other Scriptures that clarify that God’s covenant with Israel is FOREVER.
Blessings, Maryann! God’s Word is the answer to all our questions. ✝️
