Called To Be a Servant

1-minute devotion for Sunday, 11/9/25

“He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.” (Jesus) Mark 9:35-37 NLT

When I read these verses, I am always reminded of the great need in most churches for more Children’s Ministry teachers. What a privilege to answer God’s call to serve the children He so dearly loves!

In His Love, Cindy

  1. This post highlights the real need for Godly teachers to teach children in the church. I remember my past years in another church where I was greatly blessed to serve Him in teaching the children, I must say that I miss it. God bless you today sister 🙏

    1. I know you were a wonderful blessing to the children! The Church needs for more men to teach our kids. In my experience children’s ministry consists almost entirely of women. Half of the children are boys who need a male influence. Have a blessed day, Alan! 🙏

  2. Thanks, Cindy, for highlighting our Lord’s call to nurture the children in our churches. It’s a huge JOY to teach! My husband and I get to teach preschoolers about once a month, and their enthusiasm is contagious!

  3. I have recently stepped back into teaching biweekly in our children’s ministry.

I will admit that after spending my days as an Assistant Director in a childcare center, it can be hard to get motivated to spend more time with “other people’s kids”. BUT then Jesus shows up in the smiles of the children and the relationships with the other teachers and I know I’m in the right place.
