The Promise of His Return

1-minute devotion for Tuesday, 9/16/25

3 “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” …

8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:3,4,8,9

“Thousands of years have passed since Jesus ascended into heaven, promising to return for His faithful ones (John 14:1–4; Revelation 22:12). Scoffers point out the lapse of time and mock those who still wait and yearn for His appearing.” (Got Questions.org)

“There is God’s timetable and there is ours. From a human perspective, the word “near” passed its outer limits about 1,800 years ago. According to God’s calendar, it’s like we’re only a couple of days into the wait.” Amir Tsarfati, from his book Revealing Revelation

In His Love, Cindy

  1. Time is of the earth, there is no time in Heaven. I remember a pastor saying when the Bible says Jesus is coming soon it means suddenly. Have a blessed day.
