1-minute devotion for Sunday, 9/7/25
“… children or grandchildren … should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.” 1 Timothy 5:4
I am very thankful for my grandmothers. They were strong Christian women who faithfully prayed for me. The photo below is of the keepsakes that were given to me after their deaths. I keep them on display in my kitchen. They remind me that through my times of weakness, they were praying for me. These keepsakes have no earthly value, but they are precious to me.

Thank the Lord for godly grandparents. If yours are still living, honor them today.
If you are a grandparent, pray for your grandchildren, especially those who haven’t found their way to Jesus. Your prayers are “powerful andΒ effective.” Trust me. I know.
In His Love, Cindy

What about those of us who did not grow up in a Christian home?

Dear Anonymous, The wonderful thing about the body of Christ, is that when we first believe, we inherit a family structure that many lack. We have grandmother, grandfathers, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc., all come in the family of God. We if we did not grow up in a Christian home, we can grow in the Lord, in His home, the body of Christ. It is my prayer that you sense that fullness of family deep in your heart.

Many people have comet to Christ who didn’t grow up in a Christian home. (My post is intended to encourage Christian grandparents to pray for their grandchildren.)
Christian parents don’t make you a Christian. You become a Christian (a follower of Jesus) by accepting His gift of grace and repenting from your sin. See my page “Who is Jesus?” for more. God bless you, friend!

I realize that, being a Christian myself. I was referring to the praying aspect of it. As a young child my brother and I both experienced demonic activity in our house. I believe it was attributed to the superstitious religion of my parents. A religion who claims they are Christian but according to the Bible they are not. By the grace of God my eyes started to be opened to the fallacies of this religion at a young age. Even though my mother and Father forsake me the Lord will take me up.

Amen! God’s grace! Your testimony will be a great encouragement to others.
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:4

A grandparent’s prayers are a most valuable heritage. I am blessed with that heritage as well and so thankful for it.
