The Bible: A Journey Towards Jesus

1-minute devotional for Sunday, 7/20/25

“Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live.” Psalm 43:3 NLT

“Your word, Lord, is eternal;
    it stands firm in the heavens.” Psalm 119:89

The Bible is not merely a book to be read, heard, or studied—it is truth to be encounteredFrom Genesis to Revelation, it progressively draws us toward Jesus, God’s appointed means of restoring our fractured relationship with Him.

    1. Bruce, You provide great resources for those who want to look deeper into a topic. Thank YOU!
      I had lunch Friday with a friend whose husband had dementia before he died. She asked him, “Do you know who I am?” He said, “You are the person who takes care of me.”
      He didn’t know that she was his wife.
      It broke my heart. I will keep praying for you and Peggy every day. God bless you, my friend! 🙏

      1. Thank you for your prayers, Cindy. I’m convinced that the prayers of others are what keeps our heads above water at times. We’re into our 5th year with dementia now and God in His grace is still keeping us both afloat! Some bad days but mostly good days, still so much to be thankful for. Especially dear friends like you! Blessings!

  1. I am fortunate enough to attend a Bible-believing church. Our pastor takes pains to teach the whole Bible. It is astonishing to me how clear Christ’s presence even in the Old Testament is. Thank you for pointing this out.
