“But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3 NIV Read full chapter
“Satan disguises submission to himself under the ruse of personal autonomy. He never asks us to be his servants. Never once did the serpent say to Eve, ‘I want to be your master.’ The shift in commitment is never from Christ to evil; it is always from Christ to self. And instead of His will, self-interest now rules and what I want reigns. And that is the essence of sin.” (emphasis mine)

“Personal autonomy” has become a popular theme in today’s society. Read Steve Brewer’s excellent post on how this relates to God’s Word HERE. I believe this message is essential for understanding today’s world.
Steve’s blog, The Brew Is Amusing, always brings an excellent message (and he does it in a few words!)

Great excerpt from Dennis F. Kinlaw’s “This Day With the Master.” Thanks for also quoting Steve Brewer with a link. I haven’t been receiving his posts, so I thought he stopped blogging. 🙂
In grade school we were asked about our family tree. My Grandfather said we are Americans that is all that matters. Some in our family are obsessed with the ancestry and go to great lengths to find out every detail of the family history. Stating the mantra of we cannot know who we are unless we know our family history. While some of that applies to a nation for preservation especially the Christian heritage, it is too much of looking back instead of looking forward. Even in retrospect is the His Word that preserves a nation.
Coming from a broken home self worth, self autonomy, self, was something that I struggled with. Until I met Christ. Having Him as an older brother, the Heavenly Father as my father, suddenly I was more self aware of my identity in Christ then in the flesh. It was freeing. The autonomy, or identity in Christ gave more worth in my life then any other pursuit.
The heavenly identity is a lasting, eternal, fixed and unchanging by emotions or circumstances. When we value the eternal over the temporal, babies live, the elderly and disabled are cared for. The selfish pursuit of self autonomy does not really yield up for the betterment of society.
Thank you again for reaching deep and putting it out there, May God continue to richly bless your posting. In Him, Your sister in Christ and friend.
