Quote of the Week, 5/7/25

1-minute read

Turning a blind eye to false doctrine is not humility; it is negligence.” Bruce Cooper, Reasoned Cases for Christ

“Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all time handed down to the saints.”  Jude 1:3, NASB (emphasis mine)

More quotes from Bruce’s excellent post, Defending the Faith: A Biblical Mandate for All Believers

“The Bible says those who depart from sound doctrine cause division—not those who point it out. Speaking the truth in love is an act of obedience, not hostility.

“In a world—and sadly, a Church—where doctrinal compromise is rampant, the call to defend the faith is more urgent than ever.”

  1. “Turning a blind eye to false doctrine is not humility; it is negligence.” That is a real hard hitting quote from brother Bruce’s excellent service for the Lord. We certainly all have a duty to stand up for the gospel and the truth of God’s Word – it is not optional. This is a challenge to me everyday when I meet others. Thank you for sharing this with us today Cindy. God bless you today sister 🙏

    1. Thank you, Alan. God has put a strong desire in my heart to love truth and warn Christians about false teachers. This is at least partly because I was once deceived by Word of Faith teaching. I know first hand how devastating it is to realize you have been deceived. It almost shipwrecked my faith. Some people naively think it doesn’t matter who you listen to, but trust me it DOES! God bless you, my friend! 🙏
