Abortion Or Healthcare?

Over the next few months leading up to the election, you may notice an increase in ads for “reproductive rights”. “Reproductive rights” is an euphemism for abortion. There are many euphemisms for abortion including women’s rights, women’s healthcare, reproductive choice, pro-choice, and others.

Using these euphemisms, abortion advocates redirect the conversation away from the child and to the child’s mother—or, as they prefer to say, “the woman.”

But the fact is, we’re really talking about abortion, which is the taking of a human life while in the mother’s womb. Abortion rights activists claim the unborn fetus is not a baby, but we all know that it is a baby and the “person with a capacity for pregnancy” is the mother.

They can change the language all they want, but it doesn’t change the reality.

A euphemism is a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant.

Over time, the use of euphemisms can, and have, changed society’s view on abortion. It is a deception that seeks to hide the reality of murdering a child and cloaks that murder in a positive light.

It isn’t the worst thing in the world to have a baby you didn’t plan on. The worst thing in the world is to kill that baby.

But don’t expect pro-abortion activists to fight for the right to kill your baby. That sounds too harsh. And it is.

These linguistic sleights of hand work. Abortion advocates themselves have been and remain deceived—seduced even—by these very euphemisms. They sincerely believe the moral claims they assume in this way of speaking.

“Those responsible for changing the language have changed the way people think and believe and act.” Trent Hunter, Aborion or Feticide: Words Matter (I encourage you to read this excellent article.)

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” Isaiah 5:20 NIV

“For You created my innermost parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;” Psalm 139:13-14 NIV

So as you watch TV or scroll social media, take note of the deception being used to mislead the public into supporting the murder of babies in the mother’s womb. Do not be deceived by euphemisms.

  1. This is an important post advocating for unborn children. Trent Hunter’s suggestion to fight euphemism with euphemism is a strategy that would likely have an impact on convenience abortions. “Feticide” is more accurate.

  2. Outstanding article and message sister Cindy! Very much needed in our time as those running the abortion mills and their political and bank-roll backers DO NOT care for women at all. Hey, nowadays, they can’t even define a woman. It is NOT just a woman’s health or reproductive issue. There are TWO or MORE lives involved depending on how many babies are in the womb. Do they not have rights?

Also, in Gen. 3:16 it states: “…In pain you will bear CHILDREN; [emphasis mine]…” Women do not give birth to skyscrapers, cars, televisions, computers, chairs, etc. Women give birth to children…If you eliminate the baby in the womb…it is murder. The heart of man is exceedingly wicked and will not stop with just early abortion. As we have seen, the action has progressed to late-term abortion and infanticide out of the womb…after the baby has been born.

As Christians, we present the Gospel and forgiveness to any who have participated in abortion and that is NOT just the woman. There is a ton of responsibility for this genocide of our time beyond the women who have had the abortion. The blood of Jesus Christ washes away all our sins. There is redemption, forgiveness, cleansing and new life in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  3. The sad part is that for those of us raise in sexual abuse, morality is never learned until one gets introduced to God. But before that happen you may end up a teenager force or coerced into an abortion because those who are suppose to take care of you, don’t. They were lied to, so they lied to me. It was not until years later that I realized what happened.

I was at a county fair when there was a “Right to Life” booth there. The counselor was astute enough to realize that reality had hit me square in the face. I barely remember being taken to the private booth. All of a sudden I realize the counselor had hold of my hand and said “Dear one, God knows you were lied to and God can heal this.”

The guilt has never left me. It was not until I tried to have children that I was told the damage from the abortion caused so much scaring that most likely I would not be able to carry a baby to full term. Well in God’s grace I have two children but lost several in miscarriages, but the two born to me had physical disabilities. More guilt.

To this day my son has a bad heart and my daughter has scoliosis, due to improper nourishment in the womb. So it is not just the one baby killed in the womb but all those not given a change at life due to miscarriage or still born.

It is the enemy of our soul that want to kill, steal and destroy. If you have never volunteer for Right to Life or a crisis center you have need see the faces of those women lied to, don’t forget to pray for those women also. So many marry poorly because of thinking they are damaged goods, or end up in the alley somewhere.

    1. I am so sorry for the trauma you have experienced and also the many others who have experienced abuse. You say the guilt has never left me and I understand how difficult it can be to let go of guilt and shame.

  4. And what about the poor, the women and children out of the womb? What would you say about them? The church is supposed to take care of them, and that is not happening. That is not on the ballot.

Nor have you mentioned responsible planning for childbirth. You’ve mentioned one alternative, having an unplanned pregnancy. In the cases where it is someone’s choice to bear children, they should be instructed and empowered to do so wisely, so the child can be cared for. Or are you someone who thinks birth control is wrong, too?

A woman having a choice with what to do with her body is accurate, as per God giving human beings free will. We have not been following his instructions since the beginning of time. This is nothing new. It is not your say, a Republican‘s’s say, or a Democrat’s say. God already has our names (or not) in his Book of Life. I’ll never understand why people are so concerned with what is not their burden. How many children have you saved from being murdered?

I would never tell an abused child (because yes, THAT is happening) who wanted to have an abortion that she was a sinner, nor would I condemn her choices. Jesus loves her, too, as much as he loves her baby, and as much as he loves the person who violated her as a child.

I’ve not had an abortion. That has not been my experience. I have suffered from child abuse and been raped. I can’t say with certainty what choice I would make, as a woman and a mother.

More importantly, whom have we loved today or shown Jesus’ love?

    1. My intention is not to throw stones at sinners. My intention is to unmask deceptive rhetoric. Your logic does not hold up. Yes, God gives us free will, but that does not mean murder is not sin. We cannot have an honest debate about abortion until we are willing to define it accurately.

  5. Amen! Amen! I use to believe these lies until I met my husband….my friends who committed abortion in their younger days did so for convenience their own words. Not because of abuse or poverty (as if those things justify murder of the weak and defenseless)…Anytime I hear sexual assault as the basis for abortion rights o think to myself…so we should create a murder victim on top of having an assault victim?
The alter of convenience is no different of the high places Jezebel and the likes enjoyed slaughtering children on in order to please their useless dead gods. Abortion is just a cleaned up version because you can avoid seeing the little human being ripped apart
