Shocking Scenes from the Olympic Opening Ceremonies: Satanic and Anti-Christian

Because my post today on Real Christian Women was written in my excitement for the Summer Olympics, I feel the need to comment on last night’s opening ceremonies. What has happened to our world?

Scenes from the Opening Ceremony:

The Golden Calf
Morbid depiction of Marie Antoinette
Drag Queens Parody of the Last Supper
A Pale Horse whose rider was named Death (Revelation 6:8)

I could share more, but this should suffice.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3 NIV (emphasis mine)

I am sad for all the young people who have worked so hard to become an Olympic champion. Now they are forced to be part of an Anti-Christian event or give up their dream. Pray for them.

In His Love, Cindy

  1. I’d heard it was bad, but I hadn’t see the pictures. Thanks for sharing, Cindy. Praying for our world… but I know it will get worse before the end. Looking forward to Jesus righting all that is wrong!

  2. Satan and his followers are disturbing every area of our lives, aren’t they? We shouldn’t be surprised but it’s still so shocking and offensive. I agree with you that I feel sorry for the athletes who have worked so hard and now have to be deal with this atrocity. I’m going to share with you a piece that a friend of mine wrote.

“Yahweh is King – FOREVER. (Psalm 10) Thinking about the Olympic opening ceremonies that tried to mock Christ in grotesque ways. (it’s the same thing that happens in every superbowl halftime show and in many other award ceremonies like the Grammys and pretty much every Olympic Games since their inception) It’s been interesting in the past few days to see multiple atheists talk about how watching this type of vile display over the years started to reveal to them that evil is real and is (interestingly) always hyperfocused against Christ and everything related to him – which made them take Christ’s claims and his word more seriously, which pointed them back to his offer of forgiveness and salvation. Now they’re believers. Jesus is still snatching people from the pit. Even though we are horrified and mourn public displays of evil, we should realize that he uses even the most grotesque wickedness to reveal truth and draw people to himself. He was mocked and spat upon for our sins, already! (Perhaps the opening ceremonies guy doesn’t realize this was already done? Old news) And then he willingly died and was raised. His plan won’t
be defeated. “Though they intended evil against you and devised a
    scheme, they will not succeed.”
    Psalm 21:11 LSB

  3. I am shocked to see and hear about all these troubling opening scenes to the Olympics in Paris this year. My heart hurts for those athletes who feel the mockery of Christianity these displays are, yet have to put on their best selves and compete at their highest level. They have worked so hard to get there! I want to watch and cheer them on, but will also be praying for them the whole time. I am just so shocked this is the reality in our world. Thanks for posting, Cindy! 🩷

    1. Yes, it is shocking. One would think that this kind of display wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance of being approved and carried out. But no. There it is and people love it. God help us. Thank you for adding your comments. Blessings!

  4. I did not watch the opening ceremonies for just such things. The nations try to show how depraved they can get and then try to parade athletes as if they were not depraved themselves or affected by the ceremony. I am being very selective in what athletic events I watch. I avoid anything where the score is determined by a team of judges. I guess the old Russian judge syndrome. It might be impressive and very athletic, even beautiful to watch, but the medals become subjective. When younger, I was recruited by rugby and soccer teams. I will watch that. I have never played it, but water polo interests me. And I used to run the mile…

    1. I have been looking forward to the games. Now I’m in shock. I’m a college basketball fan and I’ve watched my favorite teams, Western Kentucky University and University of Kentucky, for decades. It’s a short mental escape from the problems of this world, I guess. So Satan is trying to steal this, too. That’s what he does – steal, kill, destroy. Thanks for adding your comments, Mark. Blessings!

  5. In the good news department:

An excerpt from The Denison Forum on Friday, July 26 (https://www.denisonforum.org/daily-article/the-2024-olympics-start-today/ )

As (Brad) East notes, “The opening ceremonies of the Olympics are extravagant celebrations of national glories and global unity. But if you watch past this week’s opener to the Games themselves, you’ll notice an unusual pattern: Athletes are always talking about God.”

He goes on to add, “If you caught last month’s Olympic trials, you’ll have noticed the same thing. Athletes of every kind continuously gave God the credit, often in explicitly Christian terms. It was almost like a competition within the competition to see who could outdo the others in redirecting praise heavenward.”

And while, to some extent, that shouldn’t be surprising given the number of Christians competing, what East described that most caught my attention is the way the chaotic and unpredictable nature of athletic competition lends itself to a religious perspective in ways many other walks of life do not.

For example, if you or I wake up one morning with a stiff back or twist an ankle walking down the stairs, it’s typically little more than an inconvenience. However, if an athlete’s body fails them at the wrong time, it can mean years—or, for many Olympians, a lifetime—of work has gone to waste. As such, the idea that God can bring an element of order to the chaos is appealing to many.

And should all of their training and dedication result in victory, athletes are often quick to remember the Lord and respond with gratitude. And therein lies the lesson for us today.

    1. YES! Good news, indeed! We are in a spiritual battle and this is a good example. The athletes are praising God in spite of the Opening Ceremony. Thank you for sharing this. God bless you, Kathy!

  6. Instead of focusing on what the devil is doing, get out and do something. Mentor a kid, help a single mother, visit a retirement home. And don’t become a glutton of the Bible either, re-reading the same words week after week, has one bad enough? Don’t walk past the man in the ditch on your way to church like they did in the parable of the Good Samaritan. No, instead do the work of that “hell bound, heathen Samaritan”(or so they were thought of by those on their way to the temple).. This is who Jesus said did the right thing. Stop focusing on the enemy and all that he’s doing. What good does it do, eps if you’re not doing anything of any real merit..”true undefiled religion is this: to look after the orphan and window in their time of need.” The church has it backwards. They study and sing and are seeking their own comfort in their knowledge and pew time..while people are left lonely and wondering where Jesus really is all the day long.. Jesus said follow Him, not worship him. And he said worry not about tmrw, and I’m sure he wasn’t out pointing and fearful of what the world was coming to. He had too much work to do..

  7. It was horrid. Do they not realize that 900,000 Christians have been martyred in the past 10 years? They’ve mocked a world religion that faces persecution on a global scale. It’s actually serious and I don’t understand how there aren’t legal implications for this kind of stuff.

    1. I agree, it’s horrid. This is the world we live in. There are many good people in our world, but also many evil. That is why it is so important that we walk with the Lord. His Word is a light to our path. I look forward to exploring your blog. Blessings Honestlies!
