Our teachers of God’s Word are not always to be trusted. In fact, we should not follow any of them unconditionally, for God will call us to account for the use of our understanding. When even our pilot errs, it is necessary for us to follow the chart of the Word of God closely, so we might be able to save the vessel.

You always seem to find the good ones, great quote. Starting out as a young Christian I lack that discernment, it cost me dearly. Sometimes it is still hard to spot the wolf in sheep clothing. The enemy of our soul is good at deception. I really enjoy Spurgeon’s writings so thank you

Young Christians always lack discernment because they haven’t studied the Bible yet! That’s why false teaching is so evil. False teachers take advantage of young Christians! The better we know God’s Word, the safer we will be. Blessings, Eileen!
