First, parents must recognize that NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) poses a serious threat to the spiritual vitality of their children.
Holly Pivec and Doug Geivett, Counterfeit Kingdom
I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially parents. The book explains the dangerous world of the New Apostolic Reformation and its false teaching influenced by New Age practices. A must-read! You can review the book here.

I do appreciate your warnings on this Cindy. Though I have run into some pretty of-the-wall churches over the years, I am curious why you and Bruce mention these folks, since I have never heard of them anywhere else. Maybe in a future post you might clarify.

Pastor Pete, About 25 years ago, I attended a NAR church. I have written about it, but I usually refer to it as a Word of Faith church. It was both. By studying the Bible, I eventually realized that I had been deceived. Here is a link from Bruce’s blog. It is quite in depth, so you might want to scan it first. It contains numerous links.
GotQuestions.org says: “The New Apostolic Reformation, or NAR, is an unbiblical religious movement that emphasizes experience over Scripture, mysticism over doctrine, and modern-day “apostles” over the plain text of the Bible. Of particular distinction in the New Apostolic Reformation are the role and power of spiritual leaders and miracle-workers, the reception of “new” revelations from God, an over-emphasis on spiritual warfare, and a pursuit of cultural and political control in society. The seeking of signs and wonders in the NAR is always accompanied by blatantly false doctrine.”

I do recall some churches that have wandered in that direction, even strayed that way myself long ago, but I have only heard that term from you both. I do also understand the sting of coming out from under false leadership and teaching. We have some old wounds of our own in that department. Thanks for taking the time to expand on this.
