Dear Blogger Friends, Many of you have the gift of encouragement! How do I know? Because you encourage me all the time! So many times, I have read your blog and it hit me right between the eyes! It was just what I needed that day!
But you don’t have to be a blogger for God to use you to encourage others. God will use you to encourage others in many different ways, but today’s post will focus on written encouragement.
” . . . so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:5-8 NIV
The gift of encouragement is more important than ever in the church today. Between the pressure of political correctness, the increase of Christian persecution, and the flaming arrows of the evil one, Christians need encouragement to fight their battles. God did not intend for us to fight alone.
It is our faith in God’s Word that protects us from the enemy! It is our shield. So don’t hesitate to quote the Scripture in your written encouragement.
” . . . take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16 NIV
When you write God’s Word on your blog or written note, there is power in those words and they bring encouragement to the reader by the power of the Holy Spirit.
” . . . the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled..” Romans 15:4 NLT
We all need to encourage each other!
“Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 NL
The Apostle Paul encouraged the Believers through his letters, written while he was in prison. (Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemon) In fact, he wasn’t known to be a good speaker, but he wrote with power! (See 2 Corinthians 10:1 NIV.)
“I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away!” 2 Corinthians 10:1 NIV
And don’t forget Barnabas!
“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means ‘Son of Encouragement’ ) . . . ” Acts 4:36 NIV
Can you imagine? This Joseph was such an encouraging believer, they changed his name to Son of Encouragement! Most Christians have heard of Barnabas, but they don’t know his real name.
This is my favorite verse because I know my personal suffering will bring about comfort for others through Christ my Lord.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
“Encouragement is transfusing some of your courage into another life.” *
If that desire is in your heart, to encourage and comfort others, use that gift freely! Fan it into flame by using it often!
With Love,
Cindy

I had to laugh when I read, “you don’t have to be a blogger for God to use you to encourage others.”
Sunday I met someone at a venue not particularly conducive to spiritual conversations. During the small-talk, something “clicked” and we realized each of us loved the Lord deeply. What followed was an animated time of fellowship, while everyone around us was focused on other things we had no interest in. 😉 Toward the end of our visit, she told me that during her devotional time that morning she had asked God to send her someone who loved Him who would encourage her. She was doubly encouraged to find that prayer answered within hours, in a rather unlikely setting. We had a great laugh, not necessarily from humor, but from sheer delight at how good God is!

So very well spoken Cindy. I love what you said about not needing to be a blogger to give encouragement. This was just what I needed to hear today. Thank you so very much for sharing. ~Paula ~

Hello Cindy~ I felt led this morning to write about David the Psalmist and how much he loved God’s word. I began to look up scriptures in Psalm 119 and came across your blog. We sound so similiar! During Covid I was walking our trail nearby when I felt as if my eyes were opened to the beauty of His creation around me and everything I saw seemed to be related to His word. The words started to form and “lil ole me” who never pictured blogging began to write! I only have under 100 followers as I really don’t do social media, but maybe you could read some of my blogs as I would love to hear your input! Blessings on you and your family this Christmas season and happy blogging! ~ Kathy

I would love to read some of your blogs! We all need encouragement, especially when we first start blogging. My advice is: Don’t pay too much attention to stats. Just write what the Lord lays on your heart. It takes a long time to build up followers. I’ve been blogging for 7 1/2 years and it is still a learning experience. God bless you, Kathy, as you serve Him. 🤗

Thank you for your recent blog. Our oldest daughter, Rachael, taught in Atlanta, FL, and Abu Dhabi. She married and had our one and only grandson (We got to be in Abu for the delivery) and is now a single Mom. She has struggled for 6 1/2 yrs and doesn’t have the Lord in her life. She once had a beautiful relationship with Jesus. Oliver was put in public school at age 4. It broke our hearts. He seemed so little. I started a Moms (Grandmoms) In Prayer group and we pray for the children and teachers in the public school. Oliver struggled with teachers that couldn’t give him the extra help and attention he needed. Anyway, this is Rachael’s 1st week of homeschooling and Oliver is thriving. Rachael having a Masters Degree wondered what she was going to do with her life. Her heart is softening and she is doing what God had planned all along, teaching her son. Thank you for your encouraging story. We know one day soon our daughter’s eyes will be opened to see her Father’s hand upon her life. Blessings to you and yours, Cindy. ❤️Kathy
