The best thing about becoming a blogger is the community of friends I have come to know. I know some of my blogger friends (BFs) better than the friends I actually live around! I sincerely love them and care about them.
I always thought God’s purpose for my blog was to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. But it might be something more than that.
Maybe God’s purpose is for me to develop relationships. I know that He gave me this desire to write a blog and He has put love in my heart for followers I have come to know. When God calls you to love and pray for someone you never met, well that’s God’s love in action.
I know some of my followers well because they have shared their lives and their hearts with all of us. I could know someone my whole life and never find out some of the things I know about my BFs including their battles and their weaknesses.
I started collecting pictures of some of my BF’s to help me keep everyone straight in my mind. When I receive a comment or read their blog, I refer to their picture.
God is putting in my heart a desire to build relationships all through my life – at school – in the community – and on WordPress.
I hope you will join me in an effort to pray for and support people we come to know and love through our adventures in blogging.
With Love,
Cindy

I DO! This blogging community is so encouraging and uplifting. And, isn’t that what God calls us to in our relationships? Reading through these blogs is a lot like having devotionals, with the Scriptures and applications. And I pray for ya’ll.

What a great perspective, Cindy! Thanks for sharing your heart. I have no idea where you live, but if it were close to me, I’d have you over for coffee, and we’d talk for hours about my favorite subject – how awesome God is. – Annie

Annie, I have copied and printed the pictures of my blogging friends from their websites. All you have to do is add a picture to your About Page. Click edit on your about page. Then click
featured image to add your picture. Or, you could add your picture to icon. If your have trouble, google “wordpress support”. It’s very helpful.

Hi Cindy, interesting post and I agree with your observations. You’re right about the circle of dear friends that develops and the feeling of community, even though we can be miles and miles apart. I’m always surprised to see familiar faces on a new blog I follow, in the comments. I also enjoy the honesty, when sharing, especially the failures, because it lets me know the reality of the journey, in it’s different colors. I also appreciate how much I learn and the richness and depth of God’s people. I love seeing the kindness in people that sometimes comes through. We need a lot more of that. I’ve read a few of your posts and I’m looking forward to expanding my circle of friends with you. We serve a faithful, loving and patient God, who does indeed stay with us, even when we haven’t always stayed with Him. One of the joys of walking with God is coming to the place where we can’t leave Him any more because He’s finally become more of us than ourselves. It does take time to get there, with many lessons along the way. I’m so glad He’s won my heart and I can see He’s won yours. Grace and blessings my friend, I’m sure we’ll talk again.

Thank you, Bruce, for your thoughtful comments. I so appreciate hearing from you. I think the purpose for our blogs is tied closely to the gift(s) He has given to us. My blog posts reflect my journey, and although some posts are based on the past, most of my posts are reflections of what God is teaching me right now. I’m so glad I found your blog! It is wonderful. Blessings!
