The Danger of Complacency

1 minute read

Monday’s Verse, 2/3/25

“At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps
and punish those who are complacent,
who are like wine left on its dregs,
who think, ‘The Lord will do nothing,
either good or bad.’” Zephaniah 1:12

The dictionary defines complacency as “a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger; a smug satisfaction with an existing condition.”

The people of Judah had been wandering in a fog of idolatry, materialism, and complacency. Zephaniah warned them that judgment was at hand. (Jeremiah Study Bible notes)

      1. Hello sweet friend, thank you so much. I think I turned a corner. An inhaler, steroids, finally some rest…and of course the best–God! And Finley, too! ❣️🙏🏼🐾 I’m going slow in catching up on things and not overdoing it–God is good! Through it all, we can count on him! Sending you love and prayers, too, dear friend. I appreciate you! ❣️🙏🏼💞
