“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” 1 Peter 5:7 AMP

I love this verse, thought I’d share my reflections with you. The following verses hit me differently today as well. First, why is Peter telling us to cast our anxieties? Think about it, when our my minds are anxious or worried we don’t think clearly, are minds our clouded like walking on a foggy day. All the “what if’s” swirl around and before we know it we’ve made a mountain out of a molehill, we’ve put our focus on the problem and taken it off of our problem solver, Jesus. When we don’t give our anxieties to the Lord we can’t be “sober minded” as we are called to be. And when we are not “sober minded” or thinking clearly the devil, who is “prowling around like a roaring lion”, pounces on those anxious thoughts! Now, he can’t read our minds, but he can try to influence our thinking. That’s why it’s so important to think about what we’re thinking about; why we need to meditate on Scriptures; why we need to cast our anxieties so we can stand firm, solid in our faith, trusting in our promise keeper, in His faithfulness, dependability and loyalty!
